0406 seems ta work, but no bugs to speak of !!
it came back as higher o/c than what i had before , with the settings that were on before .....soo i've been tryin' for higher but still workin' it 4.18 Ghz at one point but not stable in everest at full throttle .. 3.6 stable is easy .. gonna get back to 4 as before , putting the G.Skill's 1066 in right now as we speak see what that does any suggestions most welcome

My SB temps went down 10C but my NB temps seem to have stayed about the same. The NB idles at 47C and Load 55C. I was trying to get this thing running where the NB would never get hotter then 50C.
I am using MX-2 on both chipsets, my question is for anyone that us using the HR-05 on you NB what kind of temps do you get with a 80mm fan mounted on it and how much thermal paste did you use? I did the old pea size dot in the center with the squish and twist technique. I thinking maybe I did not get enough MX-2 where it counts, possibly I need to do the line technique. I have read alot of comments from guys that have this heatsink and all of them boast about low temps, so idk
    Any Info would be appreciated!
    Thanks, Filthy
Im also interested in this - I would be really great to know if it's worth it to put some proper cooling on that NB.

Should allow for a little more OC because of the 8 layer pcb. For 5$ i would have taken the 8500 for sure.

Bios 0406 is completely incomaptible with Adaptec Raid Controller 3405. Computer won't boot with "CPU init" message on LCD poster. It took me hours to isolate the problem. I had to disassemble the whole system to understand that Adaptec controller was a problem. I already decided that I killed my RF during flashing, and even went to shop and bought Celeron 420 to try another CPU instead of Q9450. Nothing helped till I removed Adaptec card. Uff...tired of all these things..

4 layer PCB is really poor, this used for cheap DRAM only. For example, my 2048mb OCZ sticks have 8 layers

    RAM problems on Rampage

I posted earlier the specifics http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...181921&page=20

ASUS sent me a new motherboard (thanks ASUS ). Crucial sent me new RAM (thanks Crucial) . I'm still having memtest errors .

I increased tRFC as Reatlelstar suggested. I dropped timings to 5-5-5-14 and had tRFC up to maximum, around 132 if I recall correctly. This is at 800mhz.

It's starting to look like the RAM just isn't compatible. The DDR2 800 2x2Gb Ballistix aren't on the QVL for the Rampage, but the 2x1Gb Ballistix are. I've talked to Crucial and they have mentioned that they did test the RAM on the Rampage (at least one of the customer service reps mentioned this, I don't know how accurate this info is.) I haven't talked to Crucial since yesterday. Thirty minutes on hold sucks on a cell phone.

Is there anything that you guys can see that I am overlooking.

I'm probably just gonna get some G.Skill RAM since everyone else is doing it (peer pressure).

Do you think Crucial can give me a refund since there product doesn't work (it's way past the 30 day mark)? Would it be ethical to sell them when I'm not 100% sure that the Ballistix are good?

It seems the G.Skill has the best luck so far with the Rampage. So I'm assuming the 0406 bios increase fsb overclocking (from above post)?

It was obviously a typo, i meant 8 layers vs 6 layers for the pc-8000.
