    Enzotech Sapphire

    Hello everyone

I recently got an offer for an enzo tech sapphire cpu cooler, bnib for 20 bucks. Should I take the offer? I have heard horror stories about the delrin top being cracked over time. Has this been fixed or a cause been pointed out?

I currently have an apogee gt without a backplate.

Oh and I am also in the process of making a water chiller in the next month or so, so I'm wondering if the apogee gt/sapphire block can withstand sub zero temperatures. It won't be too cold, probably around -20C

Also, how will my pumps handle sub zero? It will be in two separate loops, one with a D-tek db-1 and a laing D5 vario.

I can't speak for the sub zero questions but for $20 bucks that block is a steal and if you do nothing then resell it on ebay.

You will need a new pump. None of the 12V pumps we use for water cooling will be adequate.

The APOGEE GT is already pushing it at -20C, but the Sapphire will fail very quickly at those kinds of temps with the brittle plastic of the top.... (imo...)

So what kind of pump do I need for this? And what exactly is wrong with the D5 vario and DB-1 in this instance?

Also, should I be worried about the top cracking under normal, above ambient temps?

Ok. I've had so many things I've thought unlikely turn out to be common, and vice-versa, that I'm questioning if the info on my driver's licence is correct.

But a watercooling loop at minus 20C?

I'm going to go lie down....

Edit: and one more time...... just saw some chiller temps. I knew they could get cold but...... have to look into this once I find my meds. (I remember looking into Pelletiers awhile ago, mainly for the Freezone. Never thought they'd get that low. Phase change maybe?)

    On a somewhat random note.

What are you using as coolant...

This thread is a good read on chiller fabrication.
