Yes, of course. I could just force a flash using the DOS utility.
Who else can't set Vcore?

Just looking for some advice. Is there any consensus on which is the 'best' bios for a B3 q6600 1066 quad core? Its currently on 1305, has been for ages and rock solid at 400, I'm reluctant to change it as it works so well.
According to Asus support the G0 step is only supported in 2205.

Seeing how Asus states that the Commando needs BIOS 1404 for G0 support and how another guy who didn't know that, installed and ran a E6750 just fine on his age old 0803 BIOS dating from Jan 07 - I would just go ahead and try out the G0 chip on the old BIOS 1st and see if it runs OK.
With all the bad feedback of 2205, update as needed else leave it alone.

I officially hate asus. Support sucks big time. I've sent in the mobo 4 weeks ago, and the replacement arrives today, and it's one rev. down. They can't do anything because the stupid b!tch on the phone claims that they have received rev1.02 when I've sent in rev1.04 (got 1.03 as a replacement). The document I've received with the replacement states that both mobos are 1.04g. What bunch of lying assh0les. I will never buy another asus, ever. At least, when I sent in my old abit mobo, they had the decency to replace with the same gen mobo and not some old junk. Asus, burn in hell and die.

Anzial - nice to hear from you again. You haven't had a lot of luck with your P5W - I thought you have binned it ages ago -lol !. I liked mine but it didn't like the 2x2GB gskill PQs I bought to run vista X64 so I bought dare I say it an Asus P5K deluxe. I have found it very flexible running with FSB settings way above 450 and the BIOS has the memory settings we all want in the P5W BIOS - so to make the most of it I ebayed the RAM for 4x1Gb Ballistix 8500C5 and am waiting for an E6850 to play with. I have high hopes to go up and beyond with this setup. The P5K Deluxe is a nice board with the usual few Asus badly placed slots etc but it really performs like no other I have used.

Hey Everybody, I just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I'm about 1/8th of the way through it (man it's huge) and just wanted to thank everyone for the vast amount of information.
So far I have been testing the board a lot. I knocked the Multi down to 6X and the Ram is only running at 750 (rated and tested for 800 successfully). I have gotten stable at about 350 FSB on my E6400, but 355 is always unsuccessful within 5 minutes. I have tried everything to get it stable at higher FSB frequency, but am stuck. I hope the answer is present in the last 7/8ths of this thread, but I figured I'd post and see if anyone had any ideas.
Oh, and I have tried the suggestions available in the first post (HP3, SPD, etc).
Bios: 2004
Ram: GeIL 6400 Ultra
Rev: 1.02G
Thanks for the 200+ pages of information

Is it worth it to update the bios if you are running on 1707?
So nobody is using S-ATA DVD drive with this mobo?

What port did you use for it?
I have NEC AD-7173S.
Bios says on boot:
Master Drive: ATAPI Incompatible.
Drives are recognised like this:
1- master 320GB S-ATA Western Digital
2- slave 320GB S-ATA Western Digital
3- master: not found (not instaled)
4- slave NEC AD-7173S
NEC is found as master if I put it in S-ATA port 1.
Nothing works on that weirdly placed S-ATA connector near CPU.
I tried AHCI and IDE settings in bios and no matter what select, every time in post/boot I have to hit F1 to resume boot.
Connect boot drive to RED sata port1- next drive to black sata port 3 beside RED port and DVD to second black sata port 4 below the first one. Disable Jmicron in BIOS if you arent using it. Set Sata to IDE in BIOS. U need to reinstall windows and drivers if u want to use AHCI mode.

That is jus like I did, boot drive is at red and second drive is at black and DVD rive is below that.
And bios says something about master drive missing...
DVD drive is recognised as master only if I put it in that red conector.
Check you boot drive priority and sequence settings under boot in BIOS.Sound like its picking up the wrong SATA hard drive for boot.

It still boots Vista, it only says about that non present master drive and I have to press F1.
But Vista´s device manager has exlamation mark on that NEC and it does not work.
an update, the xifi is moved and I also tried moving my pata drive from jmicron to the ICH7.
Result is sound is clearer so the sound card move is beneficial but videos stil stutter very badly, I am backing up some stuff now and will hopefully be running XP on normal IDE mode within 24 hours.
