I think there should be. That older Intel drive has both lower random and sequential performance than the new SSDs (even in spite of being 22nm).

Hahaha, wow!
And Anvil you have too much cash to burn, what is c300s, m4s, v3s, and not force 3's. Im jealous though!
Im pretty sure this exact question was asked within the last week, try digging up that thread.
I'm curious about this, too.
Not "huge" but different.
And do you have the benchmarks for the 64GB RAID0 setup? I'd curious to see the actual numbers.
I don't think so. The C300s have higher random IO speeds but the m4s have higher sequential throughput.
If you don't have a Sandy Bridge system to put the m4 in (meaning a native Sata3 controller)...
I guess that depends what you "Generation 2" SSD is. For example, the Intels weren't that hot in overall performance as compared to others, but they were solid. I'd imagine a jump from one of those...
I don't know but I can only keep pointing you back here:

Where TheHardCase says that 2x m4 64GB in RAID0 is bad.
Maybe you...
Hmm, interesting discussion. I do agree with the comments about drive life and usefulness in it's prime.
I feel that I'm leaning heavily towards a single m4 128Gb right now, though.
Well, take any intro to computer architecture course and the *first* thing they teach you (same with any good texts on the subject) is that any benchmark can be twisted to show whatever you want and...
Yes, that's the picture I've come up - that the m4 is likely a solid drive. I'm leaning heavily towards it at the moment but I'm still curious to see the V3 MI 120GB performance notes. Honestly, I...
Do you have an m4 you've been using? If so which one, if not what do you base the GC claims on? Just curious. :)
Thanks for the benches. Although I am curious about a single drive, non-raid. I'm not sure you could simply "divide the bench results by 2" and arrive at a true comparison -- though the RAID0 is...
I've read that the 64Gb aren't very good even in RAID0 (see this thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=268711&page=8 )
That and what Anand (from anandtech.com) said about...
We just need to find a V3 IO 120GB drive review! We already have plenty of them for the m4 128GB so it'll be a matter of comparing.
I would like to see a comparison between the Vertex 3 120GB MaxIOPS drive to the M4 128GB drive.
The latter I can gather from other reviews, but I have yet to see the performance of a V3 120GB...
Well m4 128 and vertex 3 120 *vanilla* are close enough in overall "realistic" system performance (not benchmarks), sure. But I'm curious how much the maxiops v3 drive will improve the random 4k RW.
I'm looking to buy a new SSD for use as my OS drive (Win7) with my Sandy Bridge CPU. I'm having a tough time deciding which of the two to pick.
If it were between the *plain* V3 and the m4 I'd...
Its soldered in on which card? 6950, 6870?
It is soldered on my 5870, but the picture above is 6870 -- between both generations which is why Im curious.
Does anyone have their stock cooling for a reference Radeon 6950/70 laying around after having stripped it for water cooling?
Id appreciate it if you could take a few pictures of the shroud and...
Its placed directly behind a fan and there is air flowing all around it.
I'll give it a week and see how it sounds then since a few people have made the same suggestion.
Thanks!
There were bubbles in that recording as I had just swapped a part and refilled before recording -- so it wasn't completely bled. However, the bubbles and the noise are two separate sounds. One is the...
My reservoir is vertical and it not filled completely. I have run it with the top open and the noise doesn't go away so no caviatation problems, I suppose.
I'm not sure if this is what you're...
Yeah, it's the old black impeller model. The thing is, in an open-loop it is quieter than the 3.1 but with any resistance it is louder.
I put the 3.1 in the loop with the EK top and it seems to be...
