I just assumed that a raid controller with PCI-E 2.0 x8 and 8 ports of SATA III interface would offer maximum bandwidth if one day I plan to play with SSDs?
So the fastest way to wear out the endurance of an SSD is to write a program to repeatedly invoke Secure Erase on it, which translates into a couple of seconds per P/E cycle?
I'm quite confused by the number of channels. Does 2 x SF8087 connectors have only 8 ports?
The case is Lian-Li TU200 (VGA Card length: 300mm). I assume there shouldn't be any clearance...
What's the maximum temperature your 830 gets during the test?
My new 830 512GB does around 275MB/s average, and 295MB/s instantaneous. Why is it slower than the 256GB model?
IMO the Samsung 830 is far more impressive, as it has a lot more flash chips inside! The failure of each flash chip is statistically independent, which means it's more difficult to get a large drive...
I'm looking for a raid card for my Intel S1200KP motherboard. (The LSI 9240-8i is known to be incompatible with the motherboard.) The fileserver has 4 x 4TB Hitachi HDD, and 1 x Intel X25-E 64GB.

The LSI 9240-8i (with latest firmware) did not work with S1200KP (with 0022 BIOS) or EVGA E760 (with 77 BIOS).
For S1200KP, Linux would boot extremely slowly, and fail to mount the raid card at...
I'm running a mini-ITX file server with the Intel S1200KP motherboard.
It's known that LSI 9240-8i is not compatible with the motherboard.
Could anyone suggest a good solution?

Then why is this thread being bumped again and again? Of course it is possible that other SSD brands/companies have employed online actors to demote Intel's product but it is hard to believe that the...
I had a previous thread locked here. An updated version is posted there. My statistics is by far with the largest sample size specified explicitly. Use your own justification if my threads are used...
GTX670 stabs the back of GTX680...
Also, NVIDIA posted a picture on Facebook saying "It's coming", which is suspected to be referring to this new graphics card:

I'm with you. Recall that the S3 ViRGE had 2MB VRAM about 15 years ago. Now we have 2GB VRAM on mainstream cards. It's a 1024-fold increase, which is strictly and strikingly consistent with Moore's...

Rumors suggest that the upcoming firmware update (scheduled for April 2012) would enable endurance (MWI) in the SMART for the M3P.
I have a previous thread (locked) here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?278896-Statistics-Reliability-of-various-consumer-SSD-models
An updated version is there:...
Has Intel addressed the BSOD issues of the SandForce controller? At launch time it seems I could only find a single case on the Intel forum.
If it's almost BSOD-free I'd start considering this...
When there's little free space left on the SSD, the performance (especially writing) would be affected. Meanwhile, it becomes more difficult to do wear leveling and garbage collection, and may...
Either Samsung 830 or the Plextor M3 would be a good choice. Personally I'd pick the 830, cuz Samsung has been known for reliability in the past years, while I'm not too fond of Marvell controllers....
I just use HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool to make a usb flash drive bootable with MS-DOS 6.22, then run HDDErase.
Good for you then. My last one is still stuck with 0002 firmware and I still have no courage to update it to 0309 firmware, because it might introduce compatibility issues (as it's based on 0009...
I would stay away from the M4 512GB and M4 256GB because these 8k page sized models seem to be problematic - see my statistics - it's no coincidence that two out of three M4 512GB died in my hand (in...
