Ahh I completely glossed over the fact that you already have a QX9650! As the others have said, why downgrade! But anyway, I just picked up a Q8400 (was an upgrade for me) and I'm running it at...

I did look at the photo, I mentioned that in my post. I mainly wanted to know what he used to attach them (if not the stock white sticky stuff on the bottom of the sinks). So while he was at it, he...
Right, I'm pretty sure I have the same ones as they were popular years ago to also cool the VRMs. I wanted to just confirm they are square shaped like mine are (the angle of the photo makes them look...
Yes, I run the performance setting, no artifacts or lights breaking though at the top of the screen. I just tried 940 and got a driver crash during Vantage. But 930 runs no problem.
edit: I've...
Vantage, no errors or artifacts. Did you bump your memory OC down some when trying for 930 on the core? I thought my core was the problem when it was actually the memory clock. So I bumped down the...
I may have just gotten lucky....some chips OC better then others. I wonder if there is any difference in overclockability between the 1gb and 768mb versions?
edit: Think my core is as high as it...
Just got a EVGA GTX460 768mb.....at 930/1840/2060 right now using 1.087 voltage.
My opinion is to go for it, you'd be doubling the amount of cores you have and should be able to at least overclock as much as I did since I'm on air and you'd be on water. What is there to lose...
Thank you for the very informative post!
I downloaded super pi mod 1.5, what setting should I choose for the calculation?
Okay, got the q8400 to 3,700mhz 100% stable, bumped up the FSB voltage up 1 more notch and had to increase the core voltage a little more because of vdroop.
I am stopping there. Maybe i'll try for...
At 3.6ghz now, http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1401022
Testing with agentGODs intelburnin test
Edit:
I actually haven't had to mess with the motherboards voltages too much which was...
Yeah you're probably right that I may be aiming a little high. But honestly, I'd be happy with 3.6ghz. Gonna try for it now.
I just bought a q8400 and it is up to 3.5ghz on air, the voltage is only around 1.26 so I will def. get it even higher when I mess around a little later. I am expecting about 3.7-3.8 on it....
Don't worry about the 8200 or 8300 in my opinion because of the low multipliers! So I'd narrow your choices down to the q8400 or the q93-9400. I picked up the q8400 for $170 at CompUSA retail store....
Love the program AgentGOD. Been using it for awhile but since I just updated from 2.3 to 2.5, I figured I'd finally give you props! Just installed a q8400 so stress testing my overclock. I literally...
Very true, different look indeed. The power button is a nice touch to fit in the with the triangle scheme! I wish more case makers would match the insides of the case (the black case with a red paint...
Thanks for the review, I like the white fanblades! Might have to pick one of these up for my girlfriends rig.
I like the triangular angles of the case and the painted inside of the case.
What do you guys think the best fan speed is in terms of noise vs cooling?
I love PIE! Wow, nice job Stoneageman!
Looking good, very intrigued by these new low power chips. I think we will see a lot of innovation after companies get their hands on them.
I agree, still a great physx card, nice performance and it is relatively cheap.
Daaaamn, what kind of floor did it land on?
I recommend the VAIO, love the look of them as well.
