Hence the 4 razorblades suspending the cpu... so it just falls off...
prying screwdrivers is too risky IMO... after killing 2 cpus that way...
i mean if your using percision screwdrivers... their...
if it's a 20 pin ATX connector, and only has 4 pins for the processor... your probably killing your primary 12v line... thats even if it has seporate rails... thats a heafty load for a single rail......
@ Menlatin - I was refering to removing the LGA bracket on the motherboard :stick: :D
well i took my first IHS off a Celly D a few years ago now i guess...
i hear BB Mods has been doing it for awhile aswell... dont know for how long, or exactly what his method is... i've heard he's...
freecableguy... are you using the method i came up with for removal?
it should be a crime shouldn't it...
congrats with the service... i should have thought about that sooner
its nice to see a few people having successful removals... and no more cracking cores...
guess i should be a little more delicate with my next one...
FreeCableGuy cleans up pretty good :p:
id...
Small price to pay for being one of the first... and coming up with the best/less risk method
i mean it's a cpu... it's not like i wrecked my car... easily replaceable with something...
Looks real good :D
pop it in and give it ago
im still tryin to come up with a better way of mounting heatsinks without modding them or ripping apart the socket...
Ohh thats weak...
I mean you cant blame them cause ATI Freaks are gonna eat them up
it's just another logo to get on the board and draw attention...
id perfer a couple X1950's in crossfire......
Staples is doing the same... with their EMT...
i had a week off work so i went up to Mass...
i fractured my arm up in Mass... and when i came back i found out their doing the EMT... apparently it...
Hell yea soul... but ya should have given it a little more of a rev than that and sustained it a little longer :p:
X pipes sound real good... more popular with the mustang crowds i dunno why.....
I came up with The BEST method for removing the soldered IHS's...
Shimano @ VR zone killed 3 cpu's trying to remove soldered heatspreaders... i've killed 2... and i've had 2 successful removals, and...
I've had a few fan blades pop off... mostly on smaller and older 40/50mm fans..
Yeah deltas are pretty nasty...
but when it comes to sheerh crazy ness... i'll go for a hair dryer fan... modded to...
Awesome Menlatin...
keep us all well informed! im glad someone finally kept one running!
i should have mine in a few days... but i might get another highly overclockable 631 to play with... and...
i wasn't saying that everyone should go out and do this mod...
it is infact a mod... your modifying the cpu... (lapping voids warantee's, sure it's ALOT less risky than removing the IHS... but it's...
Yep... this is Xtreme Systems...
If your worried about your waranty... you wont be pushing your hardware (doesn't overclocking itself void warantee's?)
not necessarly trying to get the best temp...
CONGRATS MENLATIN!!!!!
did you use my method from the other threads?
BTW... i did this a few weeks ago... (i ended up having a bent pin in my socket says ASUS... i checked for that before RMA......
it's not epoxy... it's solder...
you could do that... just a higher risk of bent pins and such when your removing blocks...
oh i would love it if it were that easy...
hell id have to remove IHS's just about every day then ;)
I talked to shimano about a week ago... showed him my method... (he said it was very smart:) ) he's going to give it a shot when he finds a cpu worth risking...
never thought of showing coolaler...
i succesfully removed the IHS on my 631 recently... cracked the core mounting my scythe ninja (always hated that mounting system)...
heres a thread with all the stuff that i ran into while...
nothing shows up... so id use extreme caution...
dont stick the razor blade in like a cpu without SMD's
could try heating up the solder with a heatgun... and slapping it back on.. and praying it works... (probably a 2 man job)
i was going to try and do that to a D9 stick i had... ended up finding a...
