No pictures, but in other threads I've seen what looks like black gunk on people's blocks and they claim to only run distilled and pt or silver.

I've also seen green gunk.

Is copper oxidation in water just black discoloration or does it eventually build up to be some gunk?

I think I read they said that if you remove the top, you break some kind of seal.
