I got 3520 Spi32m on air with these sticks, 3440 fully stable. These sticks are pretty good.

NP. It's not that that ASRock board has bad audio, for me, it's about average for decent onboard, rather than just normal on-board.

I never reach the SNR that most OEMs report. I do have ASUS's guide on how to replicate their results, but prefer my own method, which seems pretty good at picking out actual noise from other bits on...

With how I test, noise and interference as well as interchannel leakage is about 100x better(literally) on the HERO vs EX6, and HERO is better at audio reproduction, too. The EX6 is a few dB louder....

HERO has amazing audio, better than Extreme6 in my testing. Working on my review of the Extreme6 right now, actually. I have some performance issues with EX6 I am trying to figure out, OC isn't...

That is only because SNB was super-easy and very forgiving to OC with. IVB and Haswell almost exponentially increase the difficulty. SNB..you set CPU voltage and a multi ,and you're done. Difficulty...

I have C0 3960X ES. Works in ASRock X79 Extreme11, ASRock Fatal1ty Champion, ASUS P9X79 Deluxe. Half-working in Gigabyte X79S-UP5.


Fatal1ty Champion clocked CPU the best for me.

For some, just enabled XMP. :shrug:

up to 1.3 V on all lines (CPU, Cache, vccSA, AIO, DIO) should be fine. Don't push more than you need, is better to clock CPU up, then add volts, rather than set voltage and tune CPU to that voltage....

I tested just three CPUs and came to the exact same conclusion. So either it's really really obvious that this is the case, or ASUS is using the info I gave....or is inept...(I don't think this).

MCE = Multi-Core Enhancement. That's all the BIOS was for. Just change option in BIOS, you get the same thing. No reason for it to be released, even.

Such is life. It's only these older drives, so oh well. Secondary controllers sometimes or using USB 3.0 dock works just as well. :p

I have this, Sandforce-based drives have issues with some BIOSes. Same issue was present on Z77 for me, but was fixed with BIOS updates. NOt all boards have this problem for me, only two out of 7 so...

Yeah, I know it's a big task. Really, I'm still gaming every day, albeit on a single monitor with a single GPU, so it's not like this is some earth-shattering problem or something...just really sucks...
