I went to the trouble of cutting up and shaping an old P3 Passive heatsink to go on the fets. At least that way i still have the stock heatsinks intact should i decide to sell the board.

Looks good! :)
Ahh, now i understand what you mean. Cheers :)
lol, it's definatly not a 'cheap' dmm, but all the same, i was measuring from the wrong points. Thanks a lot caater :)
ok, i'll agree with you there, it is quite amusing when people say that :)
But if Asus don't start taking notice of thier customers, they will undoubtedly begin to loose customers. It's not so...

^no one's complained for a couple of pages lol
Hmm, i think i'm measuring the right point. The right leg on the fet closest to the rt9214 chip right?
Just got my board voltmodded, but i'm running into a few probs already.
Firstly i was quite shocked by the amount of vdrop. After setting 1.85v in the bios, my dmm is reading 1.644v. This would...
^Nothing to do with your ram, it's the i975 northbridge that's holding it back, since they usually max out around that figure. You could still run your ram that quick using a divider, but obviously...
D**n right. It's completely up to the individuals to follow your advice or not. Even if i killed my motherboard while following your advice i wouldn't be angry with you, because at the end of the day...
The board seems to max out about 30mhz lower than with 2 dimms installed :)
A little more vmch fixes this ;)
In regards to overclocking possibly causing your problems, if your computer is stable enough to play the game in the first place, it's probably not going to be the cpu or ram. It could be the PCI...
Hmm, i've never had any probs with the onboard sound. The volume and sound quality is very good imo.
with the PAE flag added to boot.ini, it enables "36bit" memory addressing, which is enough to see the whole 4gb's. ;)
Ah, ok. My bad
The only advantage of using a newer bios than 1601 is for the "memory remapping" feature, which helps for when you've got more than 3gb's of ram installed.
Or does 1601 also have this feature?...
LOL, you can say that again! 59 days for all the bits and pieces to individually arrive, as it seemed that they sold the box and accessories i'd sent with it. I had to threaten legal action...
Yep, that worked, thanks for your help :)
lol, not a total n00b, but thnx for the heads up on the BIOS 2001, i'll give that a shot.
Cheers
EDIT:
Flashing back from bios 2001 using AsusUpdate is a no-go:

Hey,
Finally recieved my new motherboard after my first one died, but i'm having some probs already.
It came with bios 1601/1602 (can't remember which). I've flashed it to 1901, but since then...
My board did 445mhz fsb when i first got it, and mine's the 1.65v MCH version. Are the newer boards less overclockable?
Ok, thanks Timmaah. I was so excited when i saw it though :p
Has Asus attempted to unlock the multiplier? I just flashed to the 1705 bios, and under cpu configuration i found this: "cpu multiplier status, unlocked. Maximum 20, minimum 6" or something along...
The P5W DH Deluxe can't reach fsb's much over 450mhz without modifications. That's why you can only reach 3.2ghz on this board.
