Thanks. I was actually gonna try it out of the case first, but not all the cables reach very far, and my case layout isn't the best :( I wish I would have, I could have saved about 2 hours.
Looks like it's working. I'm guessing something was touching the board and shorting it out, because I took it out and it worked, messed with the pins in the case and put it back in, and it's working.
I just picked up a P5N32-E SLI, an E6600 Core 2 Duo, and 2x2GB GSkill DDR2. I put the system together (with those parts and others listed in my sig). At first, it wouldn't boot, not beeps. I removed...
I might be able to, but I'd have to see if all the wires reach outside of the case, otherwise I'd have to remove EVERYTHING and put it back together if I need to backup.
Also, the board arrives...
I've currently got an nForce4 board (specs below) and 4 WD SATA Raptors in Raid 0. I'm upgrading to the Asus P5N32-E SLI, which also has onboard raid with the nvidia chipset. I know that when...
Thanks for the help so far guys. I'm looking to stay semi-cheap... I'm upgrading motherboard, processor, and RAM and I'm looking to stay within $6-700 (lower if possible without sacrificing much...
I've checked out the QVL on this board and didn't see the RAM I'm looking at listed with it.
Here's the board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813131073
And the RAM I'm...
Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been around here. I haven't been able to mess with hardware much because of both money and time. However, I'm looking to upgrade now, Motherboard/Processor/RAM....
I've been thinking about finally making the switch to LCD recently (I'm still running a 22" CRT), but I'm not sure what to do. I really want a larger screen, so I'm thinking of going for a 24"...
Well, I couldn't get it to boot at all yesterday, turns out the board doesn't allow voltage changes. If we were to pick up a board that runs 1.8v default, but can clock higher, would the memory boot...
I know very little about DDR2, I'm still using old DDR memory. However, my friend just tried putting together a system with DDR2 memory. I was looking at specs on a motherboard and it said "Supports...
I'm helping a friend build a computer and the system won't boot. It gives repeating long beeps (memory error). Specs are:
ECS nForce4 M-A v1.1 (it was free)
2GB (2x1GB) OCZ DDR2-800 (5-5-5-12...
What about games? Put those with OS and not the page file, right?
Ah, hmmm, I wasn't even thinking of the paging file. Would it be better to have a separate drive for the paging file with nothing on it, and run the OS and games on the same drive... or have the OS...
I currently have 2x36GB Raptors and I plan on picking up 2 more Raptors soon. I'm trying to figure out the best way to set up the OS and games to maximize performance. I'm considering either doing...
Can you tell the difference between 2xRaptors in Raid 0 vs 2x7200 RPM drives in raid 0? I can :)
I read that on newegg, then I think it was Tom's Hardware that posted something about the Raptor X being slightly faster. I think I'll just stick with the regular. :)
Thanks guys. Looks like I'll be picking up a couple of 150GB Raptors soon. Only question is Raptor X or no? It's a $5 difference on newegg. If it's no performance difference, then I don't really feel...
That's what I was thinking. What exactly is the impact of the 3.0GB/s SATA vs the 1.5GB/s SATA? It doesn't appear to add much performance overall from what I'm reading.
I am thinking about upgrading my hard drives (currently running 2x36GB Raptors). I am looking to get 2 SATA drives for RAID 0. I don't need a ton of storage, but I'm looking at getting 200+ GB total...
Heya Major! Not bad, been busy with a bunch of other stuff. Overclocking is on the back burner for now. Changing colleges, gf several states away, and no job! Can't afford to buy anything new so I...
Thanks, I'll check it out. Btw, I just bought this thing because my A8N-SLI died. I never got a chance to do much overclocking with the other board, and my Prometeia died. What kind of overclocks do...
This thing is a monster. Does anyone have a link to a guide on what all of these settings are? Is this normal now? I haven't really been messing with overclocking/new BIOS for about a year or two....
Tested another motherboard with the powersupply and it powers up no problem. Guess I'll be buying a new motherboard...
