I still have a pair of the original G.Skill PC2-8000 HZ, 4-4-4-5 @ 2.2v been sitting in a box for about a year because my IP-35 Pro doesn't want to know them. D9GKX naturally, served me well for over...
Heh, ordered them at 3:51 yesterday afternoon, got 'em about 10:30 this morning, here we go (about 1.9v real). lol at the SPD. I should add that NB is at 1.4v:
Yep, online. They're in Stoke-on-Trent, about 170 miles up country. If you're from the US, I wouldn't bother tbh as your component prices are about 50% - 60% of ours. One of life's great mysteries.
OcUK have these on special for half the price of the black 1800s at the moment. I may dip in at this price, they look as if they could be fun toys. Still love my black 'uns though, they've been rock...
Right, the truth arrives. My trusty old Fluke 8060A tells all:
1.9v BIOS
1.953v DMM
2.2v AISuite
omgAsusplzfix!!!11! lol
Big thanks guys, that's reassuring. Still, 0.068v is quite a diff too. Must get my DMM back and measure mine, I want to go for DDR3-2000 but also want to know exactly how much I'm killing these...
I don't have my DMM at the moment and want to know what's happening here - anyone else tried this combo? I have vDIMM set to 1.9v but the new AISuite is scaring me!
Unfortunately it won't boot with the G.Skill and 16B09 at all - put my Ballistix back in and it's ok.
Thought I'd mention that my G.Skill HZ DDR2-1000 CL4 is unsupported by this mobo, which is a pain in the knob. I have got it to boot once, but it doesn't like the SPD since 16B09.
16B09 I'm getting about 0.03v droop at 1.3950 vcore in the BIOS.
I should add that I've only ever used this mobo for pre-testing CPUs on stock air, but I really quite like it. The quality of...
Ah, right. Unlike other instances where this happens (e.g. Intel XBX and the IDCC), you can actually have both open but eventually it'll lock up. Makes it look like oc instability at first.
At last, got a chip that does 500FSB+. Next, P5K3 + SS and see how this RAM goes :)
Hmm, not happy. I'm using 16B09 and the system isn't stable at defaults.

Just got my E8400 from Eclipse, shipped yesterday. Q747A batch though, hasn't a terrific rep. Pack date 24th Jan. Best I try it really.
Well give us another run with the window shut then lol.
Picking up what chew* was saying (hi m8), back in the heyday of AMD s939, you had to show 8 hours of prime per core before you went in the list with a 'stable' or usable overclock. Standards kind of...
Like I've said elsewhere, think about it. 1.6 vcore minus 1.3 VID = 0.3v and 0.3/1.3 = 23% overvolt. But 1.6 vcore minus 1.0 VID = 0.6v and 0.6/1.0 = 60% overvolt. Imagine overvolting the whole mobo...
Hmm, I'm running my Q6600 at 1.52v, VID is 1.3v so the "overvoltage" is only 17% (and this under ss).
While I wait for my E8400, I'm wondering... if the VID is say 1.1v and I put 1.5v into it, the...
I guess DDR3 will die at the point when DDR4 becomes cheap ;)
Last October, Vapo LS (playing with DDR3 at the time) -
Wow! What happened to your heatpipes? Did you chop them? Plenty voltmods there too I see ;)
Nice results, how far are you going to push your Cells?
More speed, more bandwidth, lower latency. A combination of all three, DDR3.
Edit: sry saaya, that's not right lol. The RAM can go more but my FSB can't (well, not much). I still can't get more...
