Not all chipsets plus it can be finicky if the right drivers aren't installed. This solution works 100%
Software is ok if you are using an older board thats supported but alot of the time I dont have one running. Also hardware is much easier to flash and if anything goes wrong its simple to reflash. ...
If you have an old DDR3 motherboard, some wire, soldering equipment and a RaspberryPi it should only take a few minutes. I'll post up a guide on how to do it in a little bit.

DDR1 and DDR2 were still quite expensive even over the past few years.
Few things that could have happened. You may not be getting proper contact in the socket or you may have done damage to the memory controller.
Do you really think so? DDR3 will still be quite main stream for a while.
Unless you're running a server board you won't be able to run 128GB in a regular desktop....

It takes about 250,000-300,000 ICs :D. It took 19+ hours of binning the top 1% ICs on 3 boards at a time to find enough to do it and it passed a 20 hour qual with some guardband.
