No theres a chance updating your SSD will corrupt your data which you get warned about when doing the update mate so its better to no take the risk and update it before.

Plug your SSD into another system do the update then do your install.

No Doesn't matter much, the enhanced secure erase goes by what the firmware programers set for the drive, the normal one is a validated routine, So no it want harm your SSD.
