Damn that is gonna draw some electricity, the maneurops not small at all. I've worked on those quite some and they weigh a ton and 4 of them phew how are you going to supply the three-phase power...

R14 is extremely hard to come by here in Sweden. Have to import it by some way....
Ooopps and now i saw the 5-stage cascade. Such an idiot i am...
I'm looking at Krypton myself but i have to ask before i would attempt anything stupid. Methane was not a good choice last time i were here, and that was some years ago... Or maybe it would be...
R22 and other HCFC gases where banned in 2002 here in Sweden, new installation of units containing HCFC gases where banned somewhere in the 90's though, but refilling of HCFCs was banned in 2002 as i...
Well in Sweden you can't buy refrigerants now as is either so this won't impact us that much, it's crappy here as is anyway :p
I'll have to bunk up on refrigerants as much as i can, HCFCs will...
Yea you could buy a custom unit from someone that can build a good performing unit for you. Though in my mind the fun about phase-change is the building process, but everyone doesn't share these...
The thing most of are missing here is that window a/c's aren't that common in europe because of the climate here. Other than that they are a very good source of parts :)
Things to look for here...
Why not use captubing instead? Feederline feeding a number of captubes, easy to build and easy to tweak, may take some time though..
If i were you and it's constantly flooding back liquid refrigerant too the compressor i would check the unit for schrader-valves (service-ports) and then let some gas out, just small amounts and...
Is that really a 220 volt 3 phase, in 3 phase 400volt applications you never use start capacitors so i would imagine that it's a 115/120volt 60herz compressor.
Anyone that knows how important it is to recalibrate a Fluke? In the trade it's always done if the company is a serious one and somewhat big company.
But for the use we are using them? It's not...
Otherwise you can use Vaseline (petroleumbased greasy stuff) Dunno if it's named Vaseline in the states also.. But that's what we often used in flare joints on for example pressostats and so on. It's...
I have many condensers to chose from, but i'm already quite sure i will be using the condenser from the SC10CL condensing unit, the second option is a condenser that's rated at 500watts max.
Oh...
Okey, what would you recommend me buying, .031 or .034, i have a load of rotarys and some scroll compressors, though the scrolls are too big, they trip the breaker even in the garage were we have...
Don't that depend on how long the captube is? I haven't got that much experience of captubes, only for my "home-devices".. But if it is so it's good to know :) Though i'll have to buy some new in...
Well, i have built several units before but they have been like beer-coolers and such and one that i had in mind to be using in my computer but that was a long time ago and i brazed the captube shut...
The choice of gas depends on what temperatures you are shooting for..
If low (-40 or so) then you would want R404a or R507, if you are in the US you could use R402a and such that have a bit lower...
Rotary's are kinda easy to find here too, i think they are easy to find everywhere in our little world, almost every ac/heatpump unit uses them.
Snowman, go take a look at your local...
You could use Acetylene/Air instead :). I would go with a Propane/Oxygen set, safer if you are a beginner and almost as good :).
The temp that pic is showing is in Fahrenheit?
There should be a rule that you should display temps in celsius  :stick:
EPA laws/regulations doesn't apply in Finland ;). Though they are somewhat similar.
He just wanted to get home for some beer :D.
Man, don't believe in that sensor, get a fluke or something ;)
Prometeias are known to show faulty temperatures..
I don't believe in -70c either.. That would be a hell of a vacuum..
Wouldn't it be possible to just use an ordinary compressor and then attach a oilseperator to it? I think i might do that in the future, recovery units are very expensive here in sweden :(.
