If you are only worried about making electrical contact get some electrical tape on it.

Theoreticaly the corners could bend in and scratch the tracks on the board because of the metal plate.

I upped my PCIe to 105 and my NICs disappeared :shrug: had to reset to defaults to get them back but I haven't done any OCing yet just wanted to test upping PCIe by itself.
