There are versions of Nvidia Inspector with the option to alter LOD bias up to 20.

Stock Intel cooler with the crap mounting pins removed, with your 4mm dia long rods sticking out use cheap small dia ali tube from B&Q cut to fill the long gap for your thumb screws :up:

Crank the cpu up to 3.6-4ghz and you'll be sweet (better if you got a q9650 though).
Should be able to do that on good air easy :up:
