Good to know someone that lives near a MicroCenter ;)
Give it more vcore :p:
Or put a box over the cooler once in awhile and let it warm up. I strapped my HD to the exhaust end of my GPU and put a winter hat over it to keep it warm.
Well there was none in the cheap ass HS I was lapping. It was a Sunbeamtech Core Contact Freezer or something like that. Sorry for my ignorance.:)
I don' think there is any fluid inside the heatpipes, just air. I sanded through one once lapping it.....................and I think they're talking about something else.
What?!? :ROTF:
I ran my system out in the garage well below freezing several times recently(-5C last time in the garage) for many hours with an AMD Opteron heatpipe cooler and a Vantec Tornado...
chiller build log .....enjoy.
I just redid my GPU loop and added a chipset block(really a small GPU block) yesterday. I'll get some pictures of the current rig shortly.
...., sure you...
Most waterblocks are designed to be low-flow, and obviously antifreeze gets thicker when it gets cold.
I modded out my apogeeXT, basically what I did was remove the rubber restriction washer and...
Hmmmm...cold air water cooling that could be fun. I always planned to put my radiator outside once it was cold, but I couldn't wait for winter so I built a chiller and now my coolant stays ~-27C with...
Great idea chew* I just broke off a pin I was trying to straighten that looked like that. Fortunately it was only a 3500+.
I'll try a pencil next time.
My 152s are cold bugged I'm pretty sure, but my probe was shot at the time so I don't know what the temperature is.
I could only get 3650 on LN2 with them.
My chiller runs a single core way below...
Hey does anyone still have an Opteron 154 laying around? I'd love to find another one. Thanks for reading. ;) I got 3729MHz out of the dead one.
My SLI-DR works ok....just clocked my Opty 154 to 3454MHz, #2 all time on that board.:p:
I just bought it for $40 shipped. Thanks a bunch JWilson.
yeah...since 2008:rofl: thanks though, I will pm him.
Yeah I'd prefer to fix it if it could be done by someone with reasonable electronic skills and steady hands. :)
EDIT: yes I suppose he was just bringing a little humor to the situation.
From where...and what do I do with them?
I think I must have shorted something on the chipset when I reinstalled the chipset cooler.
Any suggestions besides throw it in the snowbank and take a picture.
Ohh dude. Too much restriction in your water-block and you must use hose clamps on the intake side of the pump.
I modded my Apogee XT into a much higher flow Apogee XT last night...it was simple....
Thanks. I plan to insulate that too. And the pump came from an old veterinarian trailer.
Here is a picture of it in action. Getting a digital thermometer tomorrow.
EDIT: going to also replace a couple gallons of the washer fluid with pure antifreeze.
OK it's installed and I don't have a digital thermometer installed so no accurate load temps. Software says it will not go below 5c....I shut the chiller off over an hour ago and it's only up to 9c...
I'm using mostly -25F windshield washer fluid and a little antifreeze. Easy to get as anything. ;)
Great pictures, thanks a lot for sharing.
I will be using blue foam instead because it's available. :)
I just need to grab some long screws with the same thread, some nuts, cut the heads off...
I insulated the hoses and am planning to insulate the board, and I guess it would actually be better to insulate the block too. Thanks for the idea.
But once I get the board completely insulated...
I took it off the ceiling yesterday, and set it right next to my water-chiller. Going to insulate the board soon and go to town. ;)
