It's good for AMD because it means they sold a bunch of cards. It's bad for consumers going forward because it means the value of AMD's cards is diminished.
I hope AMD will put their APUs in something like Intel's NUC form factor. That would be awesome for a HTPC
How about the difference between streaming netflix and a bluray? Pretty obvious visual difference there, not to mention the audio.
The issue with this is streaming quality is almost universally worse than what you can rip from or watch on physical media, both for audio and video.
I very much agree with this statement. I sure there can be, and probably will be, other tools in the future that give even deeper insight into the rendering pipeline and what effects each part of the...
I'm not sure I follow. From what I understand it is directly recording the output from the video card in order to look at the amount of time between frames. It seems to me that the point is to ignore...

Looks like nVidia is taking the lead on new benchmarking tools, probably because right now they have the...
Common linux distros like Ubuntu, Debian etc. are not real time either.
Good article and it's nice to see AMD admitting the problem and working hard to fix it. The information about FRAPs and its limitations is very interesting, hopefully we see new and better tools come...
Anand wrote about it in his Haswell preview.

From the article it sounds like they really targeted the ULV parts for...
With a 3930k at 4.5 GHz?
I'm glad to see the frame time information, hopefully it will become a key point of all future GPU reviews.
Nice, I'd love to see what a low power APU can do in a tablet. Interested to see how it will compare to 8W haswell and quad core A15 designs
Sorry but the fact that you made that statement an absolute makes you a fanboy. Just because you have purchased AMD cards in the past because of superior price/performance why wouldn't you buy nvidia...
According to Anand's article on Haswell they are doing just that: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6355/intels-haswell-architecture.
I guess they didn't want to do the same for Ivy Bridge when...
Surface could also fall under tablet other than ipad, as could kindle fire and galaxy tab. It's also weird that Galaxy Note is lumped in with the Tab since the Note is a phone.
I don't think Intel would solder their own boards and let partners use sockets. That would mean they would have to offer double the SKUs
Obviously I am against this but the article doesn't say anything about the likelihood that the provision is added to the bill. Actually it looks like the bill improves privacy as the article mentions...
Plasma burn in is definitely no longer an issue from a quality manufacturer like Panasonic, Samsung, and LG except maybe in the case of extreme abuse like max brightness and constant image for days...
I have to agree. If the 7970 had been $400 back in May when I was rebuilding my desktop I absolutely would have gone with it over the 670 I ended up getting for just slightly under $400.
Form factor and price really are the only things it has going for it, although you can find some atom based netbooks around this price on sale. However 'crazy fast' is definitely not what I would...
Tesla was alive in the mid 1800s to mid 1900s, certainly not the 1700s.
The dielectric breakdown strength of air is about 3 million volts per meter. So at 19 trillion volts we could sustain an...
Where would you put the drives though?
This will get more intriguing I think when Haswell rolls around.
Anandtech did a review of a toshiba laptop a couple months back with a 21:9 aspect ratio screen. I think it was lower resolution than this though.
edit: Here's the link to the review:...
