FYI, the DX11 path is messed up in this game, so if you haven't disabled that already, do it.

Even so, I don't think running out of VRAM would cause the game to crash when you alt+tab. That sounds more like a system memory problem.
Something must be wrong with your system, because I can play at Ultra quality @ the same resolution with no problems. I don't play online, but I've played through the entire single player campaign...
It's not so much a matter of me preferring scripted linear gameplay, as of me preferring not to play with cheaters and hackers, and having to deal with issues like lag..
On a sidenote though,...
Finally gotten around to "ahem," trying out the game :D Although I never play online, I still wanted to play the single player campaign for BF3, and I finally did.
So far, the game is freaking...
Here's a screenshot that someone posted on another forum after 30 min of gaming. Showing 1.5GB of system memory usage, which isn't bad at all. It may get up to 2GB at the max I'd say, so 4GB total...
No, it's not unusual for games. Thats what system memory is used for in fact, with games. But BF3 being a game that uses DX11 to it's fullest capability, can utilize memory (both local and system)...
My understanding is that the system memory is used to buffer the VRAM. Everything the GPU needs to immediately render a frame is held in the VRAM for the fastest access. Everything else, is stored...
I didn't download the demo, but from what I saw on other forums, it seems the game makes use of whatever the amount of VRAM you have available, and caches everything else into system memory. So even...
Anyone think GTX 580 SLi can handle this game maxed out at 2560x1600? I hope so!
My copy finally showed up at the door.. Installing now! :yepp:
I'm kinda nervous though, with so many people reporting all sorts of problems with the game.
Will I be one of the lucky ones...
Even though I will never buy an Apple product, I have to admit that the company is very innovative. As for Steve Jobs, I hope that his final days on Earth are as joyous as possible. Cancer is a...
So whats the definition of a console port? I thought it was a game that was made primarily for consoles, and then when ported over to PC, it doesn't even have the standard adjustment options that...
The first game wasn't a direct console port either, as it had much better textures and other graphical options than the console version.....not to mention PhysX and support for 3D vision.
I hope it's an expansion pack of some sort that increases content in a major way, rather than a graphical upgrade. The game is already beautiful enough imo..
Obviously you've never played Batman Arkham Asylum or Mafia 2 with PhysX set to high if you think PhysX is useless. PhysX when done properly, changes the ambience of a game in a substantial way.
...
I expected the improved PhysX, but the DX11 really surprised me
Rocksteady is really pulling out all the stops on the PC version it seems :D
Spoke too soon! :p:
Don't see how so many people are having performance issues with this driver. Just tested it out, and the Witcher 2 seems to have gained at least 5 fps on my rig, but likely closer to 10 fps since...
Just a friendly tip for those running Nvidia SLi hardware.
Don't know if this will work on other people's systems, but try maxing your pre-rendered frames to 8. I noticed that increasing this...
Rage looks awesome! Definitely a pre-order
I never said it affected gameplay. The developers don't use PhysX to affect gameplay, since it's restricted only to Nvidia hardware. But just because it doesn't affect gameplay, doesn't mean it has...
A lot of those are scripted events, with some calculation. Look at the glass for instance, and how it simply disappears after it breaks.. And after the Mech destroys those buildings, the rubble...
I doubt it was the PC version. The screenshots of the PC version that are floating around have textures that look much sharper and more detailed than what I saw in the video.

And here's Mafia 2.
Anyway, PhysX can be a really good thing for PC games whether for gameplay enhancement or eye candy. A lot of people scorn PhysX for it's emphasis on eye...
