The ASUS P5E-VM HDMI is a pretty good mATX overclocking board. It's based on the G35 chipset. 500MHz FSB isn't out of the realm of possibility.
I'd say you're being a little optimistic. Most of the HD3870 reviews I've seen put the HD3870 quite a ways back of the 8800GT in HL2:EP2, except for your review, where the HD3870 absolutely dominates...
Probably not since the speed of the shaders is lower. And we've already seen that the memory bandwidth difference between the 8800GT and GTS isn't that obvious. The extra bit of frame buffer may help...
Perhaps it's not actually G92, but just a G80 cut down from 8 to 7 instead of 8 to 6 units for the old GTS.
Seems like the 8800GT will still win out. This has the same number of shaders as the...
Ths revision has a new digital VRM, which ATiTool, etc are not compatible with.
Basically, ATI's phasing out the old version for this version and they're not differentiating between the two, so...
How far is that off from the 975X performance now? Must be decently close right? 10-15% less perhaps?
Well, if these cards all are refurb'd they have a hell of a lot of them. As well, EVGA has a lifetime warranty so... go nuts? :p
Xtreme doesn't necessarily mean expensive.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been waiting for this board. And not as expensive as I feared! :D
Well, even if the PCI-e is already overwhelmed, there's no short term solution as of yet. X16 is the fastest PCI-e slot right now no matter if you get the 965P or the 975X. As long as the DX10 cards...
Seems odd that it doesn't even work for your own card? You are running the HIS video card in your sig right?
Even the reviewers couldn't seem to get their hands on an updated version.
NCIX's got the DFI 975X board for $226 in stock now.
Hrmmmm, I just saw this thread and I realized that my CPU is a 0603WPCW LDBHE with a batch number of 0091. I'm gonna go test it to see how it does. Just with XP-90 aircooling right now.
Wow nice scores for the card. I'm wondering though, is it worth it over a X1900GT? I know this has the full 48 pixel shaders and 16 pixel pipes but overclocking wise, it seems like the X1900GT can...
I don't understand what you're saying. They tested (apparently) two X1950XTXs and 2 7950 GX2s. Last time I checked the X1950XTX was supposedly to launch at $450. I doubt two of those would be twice...
Specs look right but the X1950 Pro isn't supposedly to become available until October and the price isn't yet confirmed. It's supposed to be somewhere around $199-249 though.
It's also a 12 pipe,...
That's the problem. The new 570/590 chipsets don't seem to be overclocking very well either. (350MHz or so) It's not just the old NF4 series. Then again maybe some tweaking or new BIOSes might help.
Oops, yeah, that's my bad on the P180.
Hey, if they can show that overclocking on this board can make up for the layout quirks, I think I can deal with it.
Sure it may be a (relatively) cheap board, but how do you explain that atrocious layout?
I am keeping my mind open however as I'm planning on getting a case that inverts the motherboard anyways...
I'm guessing you'll want to wait for Thursday then. Intel will be annoucing (officially) its mobile and desktop Core 2 chispet.
Yeah, Infonec seems like a pretty decent place. I've bought quite a bit of stuff from them already. :) Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention the lack of choice/availability when it comes to motherboards.
Ummmm... because I'm waiting to see just how well these retail ones clock and I'd rather wait until prices settle down slightly.
Hey hey now, ATI's still got the FSB license for now. We'll see this generation of boards, just don't expect anything down the road.
Haha, ATI's hardly the problem here. Intel's not going to want chipsets made by it's competitor. Makes absolutely no sense. They'll pull the license and they'll pull up their pants and make a high...
