Thanks, using an Hailea water-cooler in the loop set to 17 C with ambient temps at 16 C(two big windows open on a chilly autumn night, 5 C outside) :D
Small improvement, upped the core-speed to 4.9 GHz but cut Cache-speed to 4.6 GHz. Still water cooled.

Sorry I forgot, Custom water cooling on my rig.
Fixed

Water cooling, dual loop.
Switched case and got the tubing and wiring cleaned up a bit

This was my first build back in 2007 not pretty either

But my second was not to bad

Nice colors...
I feel so embarrassed when I see all these nice clean builds here and look at my own gaming/benching rig :hitself:
My case is so messy I can't even find my mobo in it. :eek:
...
Agreed :(
All the reviews seem to have the same OC-wall from 4.6 GHz to 4.7 GHz on airand water cooling and that's my experience to. I manged to reach 4.7 GHz with "normal" vcore of 1.36V by...
Using 3.70 on IB-E and it works apart from the kind of low idle temps, I guess it's the same problem we had going from the i7 920 to i7 980
Water cooling used here with water temps at 22C

Good work and a great review Dave :up:
Wish I could get one right now with some unlocked 12-core IB Xeons :D :D
Sign me up for both if it's allowed, got both Steam and Origin on my gaming rig :)
I think you already got mine but I'll repeat it here.
24 WU's on two 7970's , 12 on each, @ 1220 core clock running on a 3960X @ 4,7 GHz. 24 tasks completed every 7:10 minute (average)
All WU's where spaced out but the last four on each GPU but when I saw the times come up on the first 90 or so WU's there was no doubt in my mind that this was slower.
Will test more tho, as you...
Thanks it looks like it did the trick :up:
Using this now for 32 WU's, 16 on each GPU.
<app_config>
<app>
<name>hcc1</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.0625</gpu_usage>...
Yes cards are OC'ed to 1220MHz on core.
So I should try something like this:
<app_config>
<app>
<name>hcc1</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.0625</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.33</cpu_usage> ...
All I got was errors when I tried your app_config for 48 WU's so I'm back to 24 again, 12 on each GPU.
I need to look deeper into this.
Thanks OC
I'm running Boinc 7.0.52 so I'll need to upgrade it, you got a link to it?
I'm running two 7970's, one 3960X 6 cores 12 threads and 16GB of memory at 2400MHz
so 48 WU's should be...
I'm running this on a rig with two 7970's(12 WU's on each GPU) with a 3960X
<app_config>
<app>
<name>hcc1</name>
<gpu_versions>
<max_concurrent>24</max_concurrent>...
Running two 7970's here with 12 WU's per GPU, looks like I've got a bit of headroom on the temps.

Going to increase the OC on these cards...
Thanks, I'll need to dig a bit deeper here to get this working.
OK but how do you do this split?
OK OldChap but how do you separate them in the right way?
Don't they do this by them self after a while anyway OldChap?
I'll have a go with TriXX first. I now got the card at 1250/1500 with 1,15 vcore which looks like it gave me some "invalid" WU's in the beginning but non the last couple of hours.
...
Thanks a lot, I'll give it a try when I get home.
