negatory. drive strengths play a large role in how far you can take your IMC. higer levels with normal worked well for me

4x1gb of teamgroup...
what kind of guidance are you looking for? it is indeed a complex BIOS, but most of the settings don't need to be touched... and all the other settings are the same settings that you'll find on any...
it is, but if you read earlier in the thread, kris has apparently said that it's a fake too
looks like my chip is still the only 65nm amd to have hit 4ghz? i find that hard to believe  ...
1T will definitely hold back a memory overclock. cpu speed shouldn't change with command rate, unless the memory is the limiting factor of an overclock :D
two things you can be certain of:
increase in voltage = decrease in lifespan
increase in temperature = decrease in lifespan
ALWAYS try to minimize both temperature and voltage if you're...
make sure you get a G2 revision, not G1.. :D
this is a 5000+ Black edition

they don't have to go that far, but saying "4x1MB" is flat out wrong, since that is not the case. even if they add up L2 and L3 and divide it among the cores, they left out L1, so it would really be...
is it too much to ask for a vendor to be accurate about what they're selling by adding two 3 or 4 more words in the description
problem with doing that is that the temperature of the cpu is what matters to me, not the temp of the bottom of the base. changing the voltage changes the difference between the two, which would make...
mmm, gee, i wonder what that could be
i do plan on seeing the difference between agena and kents/yorkfield with my own eyes anyhow, so this works ;)
thanks bud, it's good to be back. ;)
indeed, a chiller would be perfect, and would probably hold a load a lot better than my dice pot. but i have the pot for now, and i can't justify buying...
tweaking drives gets me more mhz than any sub-timing ever has. i highly recommend you look into it. there are a bunch on AM2 as well ;)
they're very sensitive to current. for reference, the only ddr2 i've killed so far have been intentional, trying to see where the limit was. just keep the drive strength low, and you'll be fine,...
i'll disagree there. i place the blame 100% squarely on the motherboard or user error: see sig
i used smartguardian, dfi's sensor tool. you can see it in some of the screenshots if you look carefully enough :p:
and yeah, my chip is obviously not the best. there's always better out there,...
same here. core1 consistantly crashes first, and runs like 15c hotter according to coretemp, whose readings i don't trust at all :lol2:
further is always possible. it's just how difficult will it be to get another 10mhz? :p
haha, yeah. next time i'll spend a little time on trying to maintain a temp under load and get some...
thanks for the kind words guys
:lol2:
something like that :p:
perhaps, but it's certainly not as difficult as it once was if I can do in one night with the first chip I tried. :D
This would be a first, no? :D Since it is, it's time for the story of how this came to be, with an excessive number of smilies.
Before I get into it, here is the final result of my...
there is only one 5000+ black listed on amd's site, and it's G2. there are G1 5000+'s, but they are not black edition.

tell that to my 90nm fx-55
though i know you're right. there's no way this thing will be able to tolerate any real cold. it's worth a try anyway. after all, we are overclockers ;)
7 hours isn't bad though. it most likely is because of the increased temp. my chip is insanely sensitive to heat ;)
yup, 0.09mhz. totally insane. i'd call that a tie. it's on now bud
wow, did i seriously just beat you by less than 1mhz? gonna have to fix that ;)
and even if it bugs at 5c, that's 15c cooler than what i'm idling at now, so i should have room for improvement...
