Not to be :( I can't get this thing stable at anything over 2.9 (290x10), I know the board can do more as 317x9 was stable on my 144, but even with 1.65v the CPU seems to have run out of speed.
Well they're E cores, so you work it out ;)
Just swapped the 144 out for 146 (CABYE 0540 FPMW), it's happily priming away at 2.9GHz now. To the big 3.0! :D
146 CABYE 0540 FPMW

OK...so what would you like to see to prove to you that not every CAB2E is capable of no more than 2.8, or whatever ridiculous statement you made? I've got time, it's just a matter of running the...

CAB2E 0540 FPMW. I know it's not been priming for very long there, (I've been running Muon1 for more stability testing instead of Prime recently)...
I got a 146 CABYE 0540 FPMW from CPUCity today, gonna see how it clocks soon :D
What was AMD's intention for S939 Opterons, anyway? What purpose could they possibly serve that normal A64s don't, apart from being lovely lovely clockers for us lot?
It quite obviously is, or the FX chips wouldn't even exist, let alone be unlocked :)
Yep, all these CAB2E 144s seem to be doing about the same on air/water - 2.9, give or take.
Are new chips really falling over at this low MHz 1:1? I know there's something in my system that's not letting me run 166 divider on my CAB2E (that would mean 2.5-3-3 ~250 on TCCD, which is fine)...
This thread has been a sticky since it was posted :stick:
That's definitely not a typo? 0440 not 0540? That's an OLD core to be putting on an Opteron, I wouldn't hold out much hope for it...
Shame - this is the best my 144 CAB2E 0540 FPMW can do (prime/32M stable) so far, I've just started burning it in properly and it's responding very nicely ;)
I get about the same results on my Neo2/Opteron, markedly higher than with my Winchesters. People are saying these chips run hot...
I've got the same choice, I'm just gonna take pot luck. They seem to be doing about the same, just depends on the chip :)
So can we get an answer on this: What's a safe vCore to run if you're running 3.5-4V vDIMM?
...
There are no "idle" processes. System Idle Process is what Task Manager calls it when your CPU is doing nothing. That's the joke
heh, see sig...
Interesting. I'll have to spread the word about this. Could this also be a cause of instability on all A64s when pushing the vDIMM up to ~4v (what I tend to do with my BH-5/booster), do you need to...
My experiences with this board and RAM are identical - however I just can't get any async HTT out of it either. I'm sure it's not something I'm doing majorly wrong, but here's an A64 tweaker shot...
Right...doesn't look like I'm getting anywhere with this BIOS. 300x9 is fine, Prime stable etc...but 320x8 even with 133 divider crashes Windows. Gonna try a different BIOS now, see if it gives me...
Just tried 320x8 with 133 divider...rebooted after about 90 seconds of Windows. Think this mobo is just shti tbh...:(
EDIT - Have now tried 1.3b7 mod, 1.3b6 1T mod, 1.8 1T mod, 1.C BIOSes - all...
Doesn't have 1T forced on it, which is what I really need atm along with everything else, but I may as well give it a go to see if it helps my HTT along ;)
