Where I can find a description of the options on the "settings " window? Specifically, what is the "clock modulation"?
That is because the SoC in raspberry pi (and many modern eletronics) have specialized silicion for H.264 decoding.
About that, some news: it is supposedly able to do 50mbps 1080p High Profile...
There is an add-on GPIO expansion board in the workings that one will be able use to flash LEDs on and off, drive motors, run sensors, etc: the Gertboard.
First announcement:...
This don't seems like an evil law by evil legislators, but more like a moronic law by legislators who don't understand the internet...
Another good example of optmized software defeating the competition is utorrent. At the time there was Azureus (now Vuze) that was (and still is) more feature rich, open source (now...
About the price, a clarification: The price is only for the board, and is before shipping costs and taxes. It is also in US dolars, because that is the currency in which the prices of the components...
I recently tried to run a default Xubuntu instalation on 128mb, 256mb and 512mb, w/o swap in a 1 core VM. It isn't the most memory optmized distro out there, and with 128mb it was really slow and...
I don't think that 256mb will be so restrictive. The 128mb one will probably be a little more "single-task" for graphical and modern things, but 256mb not so litte. Windows XP used to run in 64MB...
The justification is the 5x+ lower price than most ARM dev boards. Of course it don't makes Pandaboard obsolete. Pandaboard is surely much better. But it is perfect for who don't need so much...

The beta boards #10 and #9 are already open for biding in Ebay (thought apparently they screwed up a little...
An "reasonable" fix for it is easy. If Microsoft required from the OEMs and motherboard manufactures the option to disable secure boot for issuing the "designed for Windows 8" logo, this issue would...
One more thing from Stallman's dystopian story "The right to read" became true...
From what I'm reading here, as long as it don't (yet!) affect people here directly, because they buy enthusiasts...
ATM no, but I already have read something on that... I'm no expert in semiconductors, and I was hopping that one would jump in our discussion clarifying things.
Read again this previous post......
In related news, FXAA algorithm was implemented last month in PCSX2 emulator. Now one can play any PS2 game (given that it runs ok in PCSX2...) with FXAA, and no performance hit. In combination with...
Different design goals and trade-offs, I guess... Also, you need costumers asking and ready to pay for such high frequencies, which TMSC don't seems to have too. LordEC911 gave an explanation, but it...

Note the difference between High Performance and Super High Performance. The GloFo HP is analogous to the TMSC's HP processes. The...
I haven't seen any 3+GHz chips from TMSC's 40nm and earlier proceses, let alone something big like Thuban that can fit under 130W TDP. In GloFo slides, the process that will be used for GPUs is...
Faster memory will matter if the IGP get's faster. Llano IGP benefits a great deal from DDR3 1883Mhz, for example.
Performance requeriments. CPUs need strong single-threaded performance, and TMSC can't do 3+GHz chips. It only really suits something cheap and slow as Zacate.
But why did you bring floating point in this thread about AVX2 that is all about integer SIMD? For me, it seems that it will bring an healthy boost to encoding performance, that is very integer SIMD...
Oh, ok. It seems it was in an old intel chipset, but they removed it afterwards... looks problematic...
The x264 project got an pre-release nehalem CPU (through Avail Media, but anyway). Not...
Looks interesting. Any gueses about when thre will be an AMD CPU compatible with AVX2?
And what is "hardware RNG"? I didn't find it anywhere...
I still hope that we find some type of catalist to generate antimatter from matter with minimal amounts of energy... Anyway, antimatter can be a great rocket fuel. Hardware's more law is nothing...
We have the technology to provide everyone with all the entertainment, knowledge, culture and software tools they want/need at close to no cost. Why deny it?
It will benefit everyone, but...
An 24h/day library with all humankind cultural creations, accessible w/o limitations from wherever you are. We have the technology to do that, only arcaic laws are against it. Society wins alot with...
