The build:

CPU: i7-2600k

HDs: 1 TB 7200 RPM, 1 128 GB SSD

Mobo: Z68 chipset 1155 socket

Side fan blows in general direction of memory / behind heatsink fan. Fan on heatsink blows towards back of case and standard exhaust fan there. PSU fan also pulls air out from above the heatsink.

I'm using an thermalright ultra 120 with AS5, and idling at 50-53. Bad chip?

I almost have the sub $1500 exactly without ever seeing this thread. :D If only I could figure out why my CPU is running so hot now.

Mine idles at around 51 and hits 63 under load, are you using liquid cooling to be in the 40s? If not, wtf is going on with my chip? I've reinstalled the heatsink twice.

How accurate are the temp readings in 0803? Cause I am getting values that seem a good bit higher than what they should be. 50 degrees for cores 0 and 1 idle on RealTemp, I cant find anything to put...

I got my new PC set up, and ran 3D mark 06. For CPU and SM 2.0 score, it only came up in the 3000s, and for HDR / SM 3.0 it just said n/a. What did I do wrong, and why are those scores so low?

As said above, if money is not an issue, just get a GTX 280, or even three. But if you want bang for your buck (and exceptional performance), get an HD 4870.

What makes you think it will have PhysX? Since Blizzard partnered with Havoc.
