They do charge quite a premium for the K cpu's, maybe spend some of that on "better TIM" ?
If LinX was the ultimate stability test proving an absolute stability in a system I would be more inclined ta agree with a "All memory" or as much as possible requirement. But, we all know that...
The last few screenshots in this thread show that with more than 8 Gb memory people still use around 7Gb in LinX equaling just about 1 hour of LinX run.
I just got a kit of 4x8GB, xxxx1500xxxx. Produced june 2012.
On sale in Norway, almost same price as MVG.
Unbelivable temps and cpu
Time to push it further.
Ok, running 1100 7-11-7-28-1T now - does not affect gflops. Only 2x2gb so far, see what I can get with 4 sticks.
The tim is ic diamond, and simple 360 rad with silent fans in 25-27 ambient. Havent started on ram clocks yet.
And what do you mean by "starving for bandwidth", is the GFlops too low ?
The mount is good, every cpu is different - and so is the internal core temp circuits. Temps went down 10-12 by removing ihs.
LinX with avx is hot, this is prime at 4.9:...
It is removed ;-)
Temps are fine if I run 1.33v @4.9, or dont use avx.
My first IB:

Watercooled, 25c ambient.

That was before "Internal PLL override" ...
Or you could use abit more vcore ;)
Thanks :)
Sry for the noob q, but can you guys give me a hint on how much time I can expect from wasa and/or cdt on a 32m run just above 6 min without ?
@Timoleros: Try stock mp 34, mine was 1.188v bios with 33.
L040B165;1027, 34x100: 1.23v in bios next to vcore selection, bios reads 1.200v in current status. Cpu-z shows 1.200v in windows.
Max benchable mp is 56 on my cooling, but has booted windows once...
Didnt see this one befor now, great cpu and run zsamz
Any reason the UD5 is lacking a bios update when UD3P,UD4 and UD7 has new improved bioses ?
For most of use that are hunting for the golden one, it costs money. Woldnt it have been better if Intel made a new produkt 2600KX or something with only the highest binned 2600K - with a guaranteed...
My 2600K is easy with 54, need quite alot of volts with 55, and can only run 56 without ht. 5640 is max I'v gotten in sp1m on water. Havent tried very hard for 57, but doesnt seem likely as I'm...
Tested 4 2600K, max mp boot windows + bench:
3x L040B165 = 54,54,55
1x L040B690 = 50
Without "Internal PLL" they do:
48,48,50
45
I'v tested 3 L040B165, two of them are average, one is good. A friend has a L040B165 with max 45 mp, so thers really bad ones out there too.
