I have a Gigabyte board, but if i was going to buy one today, I would probably go with one of the Asrock 990FX boards.

What motherboards have the option to disable cores? My Gigabyte 990XA doesn't appear to have the option.:mad:

I agree, tons of little tweaks and some probably untapped.
Have you tried to undervolt it and see what the max overclock is at lower voltages?

FX8120 worked fine on my old motherboard MSI 890FXA-GD65. I checked before i installed on my Giga 990. It will make a good backup board in case i burn something up in my current board. Never know as...

I dug up my old MSI 890FXA-GD65 and it worked pretty good and clocked a little better than my Giga board. Temps seemed to run cooler, but i think the 890fx mobos read about 10c lower than the 990....

Mine don't throttle down with my Gigabyte 990XA board. I have all the power saving features turned off though. Have Windows power options set to high performance.

Bulldozer doesn't seem to scale much with overclock and in his conclusion says sometimes worse performance with turbo-core.:wth:
