You're welcome :)
Next update will be an expansion on the memory timings - which timings have the most effect and which will need the least effort.

I'm guessing from the amount of view requests I got last night that I ballsed up the share permissions somehow. I've reset it all now and it looks like its working - please let me know if not! :)

One does not simply buy a 3900x....
I really dont know whats going on at AMD, they arent selling out of 3600s or 3600x, so why cant they make more 3900x? Tin foil hat time - could it be so people...
No worries, that's looking way closer to what I expected. 12-9-9 is ridiculous, utterly ridiculous
If you want a superpi boost then B-Die can run TRCDWR at half cas latency. i couldnt...
Nice bandwidth dude, but TRRD_S and TRRD_L are wrecking your latency there. Can they not tighten up? With sticks that good 4/4 should be possible, maybe even 3/3? I would expect sub 60ns, my lowest...
Updated guide will be posted tonight - LLC section has been added (may get its own thread, makes a huge difference to OC stability on Ryzen 3000) and also Memory Timings section added (even though I...
Feels good to getting back to producing content again :)
If there's useful stuff I've missed or don't know about just post up here and I'll get it added. I'm only a few weeks in with AMD so this...
Posts look like :banana::banana::banana: with inline attachments, is there any way I can change them to image tags or is anything uploaded to xs clicky only? This was a lot easier when free...
Version History:
Version 2 (Added notes on LLC, improved readability, added "Optimal" memory timings, added section on calculating memory timings)
Version 1
A Defectors Guide to Ryzen 3000 (Click for PDF)
This guide contains the following:
Common Ryzen Misconceptions
Brief CPU breakdown
How to use AMD's bios options from their AGESA module to...
Nice quote, thanks for that dude :)
I got screenshots from support showing where they were measuring vDDR from, however they didnt show which ground point to use. This would indicate they were...
Glad that helped, its driven me bloody mad for weeks. Especially as Gigabyte take nearly a week to reply each time its the longest short conversation I've ever had!
To sort out your weird fixed...
Its a ryzen thing, applies to all generations. Note its only if you want to run flat timings with an odd cas latency (13-13-13-13, 15-15-15-15 etc). You dont need to run GDM enabled to use...
It looks like the IO die counts towards the power budget when allowing the cpu to boost at stock or with PBO. My 3800x will actually boost itself beyond 4500mhz on multiple cores (2 cores average...
Sorry Ive gone quiet...packed the board up today to send it back. Definitely have a vddr fault, it gets harder and harder to get it to post the higher I go over 1.42v. Its really hard to find stock...
Now briefly explained in Der8auer's latest video, thought he uses this method for underclocking :)
Good call, yeah theres dividers. Theyre pretty easy to find as it turns out...super pi will show a small performance drop after 2933, after 3200, after 3466 and after 3733 with all memory timings and...
Try running Infinity Fabric above mem clock. Various configs between 3000mhz and 3466mhz with super tight timings and IF at 1900mhz are faster than any config I can run at 3600mhz+ for my sticks (B...
Reaches 1200% HCI...does stupid celebration dance then restarts pc. No post, cmos resets itself. Manually set exact same settings again...boots right up. Love it.
Decided the 1200% counts and...
Interesting results...
3666mhz @ xmp 1T GDM disabled tried voltages all the way up to 1.47 vdimm, 1.12 vSOC, 1.05 vDDG. The furthest I got through HCI memtest was around 300%.
3733mhz @ xmp 1T...
Ill try that next, currently testing gear down enabled with 1T. MSI gets no benefit at all from that so I run straight 1T. Figured I may as well test if gigabyte have tuned for 1.5T...you never know...
Beginning to wonder if i have a faulty X570i. With vdimm set to 1.4 in bios it was hitting 1.475v according to software in hci memtest last night. Runs great for hours then spews errors. Timings seem...
TCKE 2 does indeed help - well found! This seems to be one of those hard to find borderline timings where you do several hundred percent in memtest then have a bunch of errors pop up within seconds....
Doubling up on settings is not just as Asrock thing, theres a ton of duplicated settings in the Gigabyte x570 bios too, including a full duplicate of memory timings. That oc page does look a mess...
Did you intentionally set VDDP to 1.1? That should stay at or near 0.9v from what I understand and anything 1v or above can be worse unless you bring the cold. VDDG @ 1.1 seems a little high too,...
