Wow... seems like an eternity since I wrote up that guide. So much has changed since then...
Maybe I'll re-write it someday, but for now I'm not sure I would recommend getting into mining to anyone....

OC, my GTX 260 is on an Intel Hex (6c/12t) @ 3.6Ghz as I said, it has no CPUID since it's an A0 :P
The Info for the 5870 is here - thanks :)
Didn't realize that, but you are right - scratch that then.
For now it looks like the HD7770 is the card to buy, although I dont get how it can be faster than a 5870. In every other application, be...
Ok, here are my findings so far, I'm sure many of you have noticed the same:
There is a "GPU-part" and a "CPU-part" in current HCC GPU WUs.
When the WU starts, GPU usage goes up (90% in my...
Now now... don't you go stealing my WCG dad from me :P
Seeing HCC run on GPUs might just bring me back into active crunching, despite the insane power costs we've gotten over here in Europe as of...
Something for the stats:
GTX 260 (600/1300/1100 core/shader/mem) takes roughly 7 minutes per WU, GPU load between 93 and 98%, 1 dedicated CPU thread full load (Intel Hex @ 3.6Ghz), BOINC 6.10.58
....remember when we dreamed about HCC supporting GPUs a few years back? Seems like it is finally happening heh :)
Sadly it does not seem to work that well yet, as running a GPU WU makes my work PC...
Happy birthday!!!
That may very well be, but the controller has gone into a customer setup, so can't change that now. Here's my own setup, 2x 128GB Plextor M3 R0 on Intel RS2BL040 (LSI 9260), 128k stripe, no FP, no...
And? Happy with it?
While the 520 is a solid choice for RAID if you like fast sequential rates, I would also have a look at Marvel-based drives like the Crucial M4 or the Plextor M3/M3P offerings. Better 4k performance...
Heres a bench I ran with 4x Raid 0 128GB M3's (not M3P) on an Areca 1882i - will test 2x R0 on an LSI 9260 later today (going into my private PC). 4K is looking good :)

Edit: FW...
Putting the 1882 in Slot 6 worked well. Performance is now at ~1.8GB/s sequential with 4x R0, 4k qd32 values also doubled to 300-400MB/s, latency decreased. AS SSD Score went from 708 to 1500...
Oh, but there are... Dual L5630 for example. http://ark.intel.com/products/47927
4 Cores, 8 Threads, 40W TDP :) I have one of those too (running alone tho). Or even the L5640 which is a 60W Hex :)
Sent you a PM... sorry it took so long.
I guess the reason why yours is still alive is the usage of L CPUs. They draw less power, thus straining the crappy voltage regulation less, thus not killing...
I have used several variants of the M8 for customer builds and laptops, they are cheap, quick and (so far) reliable. Also no palpable vibrations or motor noise whatsoever. Can't go wrong with the WD...
Very nice Utility :)
4x Plextor M3 128GB @ Areca 1882i looks like this:

Swapping slots did not help. Ordered an Areca 1882i. We shall see :P
Thanks... so he was using 3 cards initially, then went to another motherboard, which didn't improve performance...? I'll try swapping slots and report back...
Not yet, that is next on the agenda. 2x HD7970's blocking slots 1-4, controller is in slot 5 at the moment. Full WC so can't really move the GFX cards.
Edit: I know it can do better, I've set up...
Hey folks,
getting some really crappy results out of 4x Intel 520 240GB SSDs in R0 on an Intel RS2BL040 (= LSI 9260) Controller. I can't get over ~800MB/s sequential out of the array no matter...
Nice. What remains of my BTC farm would sure make one hell of an impact on HCC... seeing as GPUs are way more efficient than CPUs IF you find a way to run the code on them.
Why, thank you guys! I had a few people (read: 20) over at my place for a small party & was pretty hung over the next day so yeah, mission accomplished :D
Stock...?!?! Get outta here! :shakes: :shakes:
