Hi :)
Finally received the R14, three months to get that bottle ! ...
I also ordered a LUVE condenser ( tubeless ), 2,73 kW @ 15k, it should do the job :p:
I've found copper gasket for AKV, so...
I see that you have a LUVE condenser ( or affiliated ), could you give me the reference ? I'm searching for a nice condenser to replace the old one on my cascade :)
I can already tell that I used CuPh rods to braze my two first stage, down to -100C then back to room temp several times, no leaks @ all.
But from now on I'll be using CuAg rods to braze critical...
I found my kind of evap' for my cold room !!
Nice idea Piotres !
I agree. Here in France, CO2 is by far less expensive than dehydrated nitrogen. I've both of them but I use CO2 to pressure test and purging, and nitrogen to break vaccum or brazing critical parts....
I wasn't talking about using CO2 to purge tubes while brazing, but pressuring test. I should test CO2 while i'm brazing, but I think that CO2 reacts @ high temperature.
And by the way, CO2 isn't...
There is some tiny leaks which won't drop oil, only gas so keep that in mind. There's also no need to braze with inert gas, you could use some CO2 ( I assume that it's easy to get in US ? ) to...
Yes, I've two RMS wattmeter which would give you everything you want.
Some guys use propane as "flushing gas " to achieve lower temp, far beyond the triple point of CO2, I've also an interesting document which suggests using a low amount of ethane ( C2H6 ) :
...
I'm interested, I've both R134a and CO2 @ home in case of ... What's the purpose of that one ? Cooling another fluid with HX or cooling chamber ?
Scroll isn't really more efficient than classic rotary compressor with high pressure ratio, piston type is really the best you can get to put in a cascade. Even if there is at least one rotary in my...
R14 ordered, ten weeks of waiting :o
I received the last compressor anyway, it's a CAJ2464Z from Tecumseh, 34,5 cc and pure LBP motor. i hope it won't stress too much the second one ( 21cc) :D
...
I'll make sure it doesn't happen :)
Hot process will be de-energized while cooling one is working.
Hi !
Just ordered a CAJ 2464Z from cold-ice :)
Someone knows that compressor ?
Hello there !
I'm back to feed a little bit that old thread ! Well R14 sources didn't go very well, I'll buy some R1150 for the third stage. Compressor should be a GS26MLX from Danfoss. I've also...
That question was already treated on my thread, but I didn't recall if we discussed about ethylene/methane together lowering the evap temp @ given pressure ...
With this idea, is there something to expect with a blend of R1150/R50 ? Regardless of higher discharge pressure obviously !
We'll see, worst scenario, I would eventually go back to regular electric resistance. Light bulb are just fine to see how much power you are feeding into it, red hot glowing filament hmmm ......
Don't beat yourself up, that kind of bulb is argon-filled to approx. atmospheric pressure, it's hardened glass type, designed to withstand 400+ °C, don't think it'll be an issue at all, I mean what...

I read some topics of refrigeration-engineer, you just gave me an excellent forum indeed, will try to post some stuff there :)
Rotary isn't the best compressor for that purpose, piston type would...

Well okay, I was expecting...
First of all : you have to clean your inbox messages, I can't answer you until you do that :)
Interesting... So mixing some methane with the existing shot of R1150 in the third stage could bring...
I'm a little confused, I read some of your posts back in the archives but couldn't understand in which way HC's blend would behave, is it going to lower the evap temp @ given pressure or just giving...
Understood, and yes I wildly keep my 10 lb of R23, even if I'm not against some ethane. We're such in trouble to get a nice replacement in the -130°C zone. I mean, warmer refrigerants are rather...
