In 1.0.1.8 and previous builds the benchmark could, in some cases, run with lower settings than the specified on benchmark tool.
Not specific to you, but I heard of a cracked exe that causes the benchmark to load and crash right before starting the timedemo. If it's not your case, please post game.log file contents you can...
