maybe its just a gigabyte issue... did you try an asus board?

just figured out, that my mod got loose... just 2 points were connected.... will test again and...

made the cbb mod yesterday on my gtx580 directcu ii which allowed me to boot lower than -60 degree celsius withou any issues.

i still cant go lower than -115 as the display turned black, no matter...

tested my card yesterday and here are is a first result under ln2:

card: asus directcu II
pot: old otterauge pot with thin copper base
thermal compound: noctua nt-h1
shaminos f-bios...

all cpus i tested seemed to have the same behavior:
if the max bootable multi is e.g. 54x the max reachable frequency is something between 5400 and 5500 mhz, no matter which multiplier i used. 54,...

i got the same issues (cracking noise) with arctic silver ceramique and as 4 on gulftown cpus when cooling down too fast.
