Well , only 3 more days to go for the guys into Devil's Canyon retails :D , It would be unfair to compare hundreds and hundreds of ES Devils canyon highly bin cpus at computex with retails.

Bill every overclocker that I talk to that was in computex overclocking Devil's Canyon agree on this same words Vivi said in hwbot : "" 4790k is terrible. its the same as new batches of 4770k, so until there is a nice batch nothing special will happen. The HT off results have an even bigger gap than with 4770k. so i have a feeling the thermal paste is worse on cold lol.
about 100 chips tested at computex, only one 6.45 3D chip from TOP PC. millions of 5.6ghz and 5.9ghz chips "" , " "retail wont be much better batches for 4770k have been getting worse. the silicone qiuality is going down down down. vids are getting higher, and cpus are getting hotter. devils canyon uses the same machines so i dont expect anything new. unless they clean that dirty 4770k fab :P "" the overall consensus point to Devil's Canyon overclocking worse than new and latest batches of Haswell 4770K :( , it's going to take a very loooong time to find a good overclocking batch and a good overclocking Devil's Canyon , binning is futile at this point. Even guys on Single Stage Phase Change cannot boot Devil's canyon at 5.0Ghz into windows at -45C  , eerrhh tha's how bad it is :/ as per Ramsus with his new retail 4790K in a tread at hwbot : "" Just got my 4790K retail today. So far i'm not impressed. I cant even boot my 4770K 5 GHz profile on single stage. ""

So expect around 5.6Ghz ~ 5.8Ghz Mhz on Ln2 guys , and 4.6Ghz ~ 4.8Ghz Max on water , terrible :shakes:.
And this is why I will bin a f(l)uck load of G3258's at least if they are complete garbage they are only a $60-$70 loss instead of $300.
some guys froM DE have retails. One said 4.5 GHz PRIME stable and second one 4.7 GHz PRIME stable. Think, 4.7 full stable seems good for daily users, better than average retails of 4770K
Yeah Chispy that is sad :(
Was hoping that we could get at least 5ghz on good water cooling, not the AIO's units. But that doesn't should like the case.
So much hype on these... YEAH we are back to Sandy Bridge 5.0ghz easy. Doesn't sound that way :(
I think, one part of this could be 22nm 3D process. Its real, with new Skylake we will be happy for 4.5 GHz OC
DC is merely the same core as older Haswell chips in a marginally better package. To expect it to revolutionize the overclocking potential of Haswell, is unreasonable.
So what do you think guys - next real bump in clocking will be BROADWELL K 14nm :D next summer:down:?
Or any other improvements rising on horizon?
:welcome:
seems you guys need more humidity to hit 5ghz.
Could probably use more cowbell as well...:p:
:D - that's the reason I'll keep my delidded IVY till the f.....g INTEL company will release BROADWELL K after all the delays:

I'm very confident 14nm will clock us into a new aera - nowadays all in all everything is gettin' bored time after time..............
