Corsair [and others] will launch DDR3-1866/2000 in August

I've had it confirmed (more or less) that we can look to some real high-end modules in just a few months. :)

The only one I'm perfectly certain of is Corsair, but there "might" be some sticks coming from OCZ, A-DATA, SuperTalent, Micron, and Samsung.

We're talking DDR3-1866 to DDR3-2000 in Q3. No info on the latencies, but I'm not sure i even want to know that. Mainly 1GB modules though.

Bandwidth is more important than timings. Timings havent mattered much since the 939 days. And C9 is not as bad as it sound if you calculate the actual time in ns.

well, actually, cl2 at 400mhz lasts exactly as long as cl4 at 800mhz

Don_Won explained it quite well.

While the timings of DDR3 are higher, the bandwidth goes up and the actual latency [ms] is decreased at higher frequencies.
This is due to the fact that the frequency is so much higher that it can compensate for the higher number of timings/cycles at each step. It's not a perfect solution, but there's not really that much we can do about the timings. The bandwidth on the other hand, that really matters today and that is where DDR3 will really shine.
Latency will be overall lower with DDR3, but the scary timings are getting a bit too much attention to be honest.

except for the fact that DDR2 usually runs at 2T...

It will be interesting to see whether this will improve the performance on Core 2 Dou system.

I guess its should help a lot for Quads core, but will this have any effect on a normal 2 core Intel Cpu?

It wouldn´t matter much, if anything at all. The 1066/1333FSB cant carry say DDR3-1333 dualchannel anyway. In theory DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 would be enough.

WoW. Lets hope that 2GB DDR3-2000 won't cost more than a car.

Frankly I just don't seem to be seeing a lot of momentum across the board for DDR3 in terms of acceptance, availability or advertising for that matter.

Hence my comment...the point being: it's way too early for DDR3...though I stand corrected...don't want to derail the thread :p

Who here runs on at 1333FSB or even below 1600MHz? None of my Intel machines asides from my Macbook operate under a 1800MHz FSB. Bring on the insane bandwidth :up:

Yupp, Team has unveiled its modules as well, not sure if we're going to see anymore during Computex, but there are more companies working on DDR3-2000 modules.
They wil be expensive as helll, but they will almost be a commodity ( for a high-end product) :)

Corsair breaks 2GHz barrier with DDR3

micron doesnt sell memory sticks, you mean crucial i guess :D
and i doubt they will sell 2ghz sticks, especially samsung, lol :D
