http://www.dslreports.com/tools
My test after my cable was installed was:1282/down and 384/up.
I know that is just above my average that I had before. It wasn't a huge jump, but noticeable. Maybe it just makes me feel better mentally.:)
I just tried it again:
Your download speed : 1927230 bps, or 1927 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 235.2 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 377358 bps, or 377 kbps.
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!
3.3Mb download for meQuote:

We have T1 lines at work and they suck. average speed is like 500mb and upload speed is very bad.

T1 lines are not designed for high speed - only high trafic
so basically if it were a road to drive on? It would be like driving on a 8 lane highway with a 45MPH speed limit.
T1 in a more technical sense are designed for many many users to use simotaniously at a reasonable speed.
T3 connections are nothing more than basically 28 T1 lines banded together as one line - now this one... is fast! 40 lane highway with a 75MPH limit!
dslreports.com just gave me this......
Test running..........
** Speed 2945(down)/80(up) kbps **
(At least 58 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.
