Just purchased an TJ-11 today (Now w/ pics) 56k DEATH

Being worth, and costing more are 2 different things.
-
Those components are kind of 'worth' more only in the sense that I need it to run the computer :)
Just had some extra money and was tired of using the fractal case I had been using.

That's what I get for going with free shipping, they seem to take their sweet time. Got my 1200w set up at least currently running my setup on a mere 4 cables :D
Rocking the no case still in the mean time (pic with old psu):

Going to clean my room tomorrow and make space for this beast should it be shipped and on its way. I am hoping it can fit under my desk at least, I think it is a foot and a half tall. Got to measuring the cables on the new psu and it is 20mm which means once plugged in they are basically 10mm showing which is basically perfect (I hope) since I have only 20mm of clearance between the psu and the radiator once I install it. Probably won't get full water cooling until X79 but will most likely get impatient and just buy all the WC parts or at least try to get some sponsored gear to offset the cost of this project. Trying to learn google sketchup is hard just to make a render of the TJ 11 :(

Hi Matt
Unfortunately we are currently out of stock of the Silverstone Temjin case you have ordered, however we are expecting to receive additional stock in approx 5-8 business days. Once available it will be shipped for you automatically and the tracking number will be posted under the Order Tracking page once shipped. If you do not wish to wait we can either exchange it for a different item or remove it from your order for a refund, whichever you prefer.
Thanks

Lol, would have been nice to know this when I ordered it on the 31st. Was wondering what was taking them so long so I emailed them and there is my answer. Tons of pics to be up once I actually get this thing.

Sometimes the wait just makes getting sick hardware even better.

Being worth it is relative to the buyer, and often digs like this are a vain attempt to mask one's envy that they are comparatively poor.
That said, the CPU and SSD in the sig, not to mention the platform, does seem somewhat outclassed by it. Were I to have that kind of money to spend I'd probably have prioritized a 1155 Z68 chipset MB with Smart Response, Pci-Ex 3, and 4 SATA III ports, which can be had for $190 (MSI). Then slap something like a Plextor 128GB SATA III SSD (around $200), divide it in half with a partition, and use one half for OS and apps, the other for Smart Response SSD caching. I'd run something like a i5 2320 on it for now, which can be had at $175, and put an Ivy Bridge CPU and Pci-ex 3 GPU on it come Mar 2012.

They are very much so outclassed. There is really no point to getting a new i5 setup though with x79 around the corner, I can wait a few more months to have better performance. I use this rig for gaming so there is literally no benefit in upgrading to either platform except for some numbers in a benchmark. I'm still not sure whether or not to get a new ssd though as that has tempted me, have another $800 or so to spend on Friday buying more useless stuff so unsure wheter or not I want to do more upgrades. Thinking I might try my hand at some google sketchup and try to design the TJ11 and the build I want to do with it and then possibly try to get some sponsors to save a bit of time and money on my end.

No vain, no poor, and relativity is "nksharp" stronger point. :D:rofl::ROTF:

A decent render, photoshop etc. would show your parts are still up to par, and for gaming it`s more than sufficient, :woot:, as for X79, it looks promising.
As for this thread, I`ll be following it, from my wood-heated, battery powered, and somewhat damp cave, praying for better days.:slobber:

I wasn't referring to an "i5 setup" per se. I was mainly referring to 1155 as a platform vs X58. Yeah LGA 2011 will have octo core support, but games won't use that at all. The 1155 supports Sandy Bridge & Ivy Bridge, Pci-Ex 3.0, and Smart Response if you go Z68. Pci-Ex 3.0 will benefit gaming, and the Smart response boost system and app performance up to 40%. When Pci-Ex 3.0 GPUs come out, you'll be able to get the equivalent of x16/x16 Pci-Ex 2.0 bandwidth on two x8 Pci-Ex 3.0 slots. Intel's 1155 platform is one of the most well rounded, and priced so well it affords you the things you are only contemplating as future purchases, now, rather than later, like that 128GB SSD I was referring to, which has 420 read speed vs 500 on some SATA III SSDs, but it's write speed is 210 vs their 175.

Actually what's funny is you thinking you're some kind of parts guru to the point of slamming people for what they purchase, yet you got sucked into buying two 480 toasters.

I`d better go back then, to my wood-heated, battery-powered, somewhat damp cave and find warmth by my toasters.

It's finally in the mail :o

Now I got some pics finally.

How is the Sketch-up going?
Something like "Kier"?

Haven't really started it at all yet :(
Should be a bit easier since I have the case now though. Need to re rout all my cables since I messed it up the first time. Couldn't put side panel back on since I didn't bother really routing the cables since I just did it quick and dirty.
-
Got myself a sponsor for my build now, FTW PC. Talking about getting an 8 bay reservoir made for my case as well which should be pretty awesome.
-
Staying in the black, or changing it?
-
Not powdercoating it if that is what you mean. Painting the fans for my radiator (once I get them).
-
-
Nope, still waiting on GT 2150 fans. Might be buying some radiators this week however and should have a custom (8 bay) reservoir soon from FTW.
A lot of waiting on this project due to so many custom things required unfortunately. Should have the ball rolling once I get the fans and reservoir though (whenever that may happen).
I'll have to see about borrowing a friends DSLR or something too so I can take worthwhile photos. Also may look into getting another sponsor for some of the hardware, already got most of the watercooling parts figured out at least just need to figure out a loop order and that's about it.
-
OCN finally got the GT 2150's made from Nidec so once I get those I will probably make a new thread of a build log here and some other places and probably set up a website. About damn time I get this thing started I think :/
Ordered 16 fans and probably only need 11 or so I believe. Might have to give the rest away or something.
-
I was wondering if you ordered barebones or completes
I'll be watching to see how this progresses
-
Hopefully I can get this thing rolling soon, starting to get annoying having such an awesome case with old parts in it :(
Not sure when these GT 2150's will ever get to me though is my problem right now. Talks with FTW are very slow.
-
Bought a new SSD today since mine keeps getting full and I want some extra space for some games :
http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=62...t&promoid=1012
Thinking once I get my custom resevoir to shoot off some emails to some companies to see if I can't get any sponsor or two.
Edit : Looks like I should be getting my new ssd today at least
Status On vehicle for delivery
Also got an email from FTW saying they will be getting some new acrylic for the resevoir so hopefully that gets done soon. Once I have that I will make a proper build log thread and take better pics :D
-
very nice, i love the look of the 90degree mobo rotation. i settled with the ft02 as the tj11 is just way out of my price range lol. mine should be here tomorrow and i can't wait :D
-
Just realized I took a bunch more pics that I forgot to upload. Will have a ton more once I actually get this thing started whenever I get my new fans.
Should probably have cleaned it up a bit since the inside was a bit dusty and my cable management is zero. Hopefully the GT 2150's are worth the wait but at least the wait made me not impulse buy a new CPU since now I will probably go ahead and get a 3770k once they come out since the fans should be here shortly.

Got my first radiator in the mail the other day. Going to order a 560mm next week and some other parts. Should have this build finished within the month I hope. Wanted to have a custom reservoir but FTW PC is taking way to long and not sure if it is even operational so I went ahead and ordered all the parts I needed for now.
Even ordered some custom fan stickers.
Edit : Guess longer then a month since I'll need to get sleeving and FTW is to slow to answer emails (read as taking more then two months) so I will just order from nils I guess and figure out somehow how much I will need.
