Hmmm....methinks there are a few holes in the predicted nV lineup - or does ATI have TOO many variations :p:
I actually do think we might see a 7900 this time around.
Perkam
Wasn't there a 7800gt? Btw how do you know all this?
The GTX IS the gt. And lol, I dont. This is just a prediction based on naming precedents and what we know about the relationship between different aspects of the two companies' current product line up.Quote:

Also, knowing that historically, ATI has kept their mainstream at half the pipes of the high-end, it makes sense to have them at 12 - as the R520 WILL be 24 Pipes now that we know the GTX has 24 :)
That sorta stuff :) I think its called deductive reasoning...or perhaps I'm just flattering myself and ALL of it could be wrong :p:

Perkam let me fix you:
Radeon X900 XT-PE
- 32 Pixel-Pipelines
- 10 Vertex-Shader
- 90nm low-k TSMC
- 500 Mhz Core Clock Speed
- 700 MHz Memory Clock Speed (1.4 Ghz since DDR)
- 512 MB GDDR-3
Radeon X900 XT
- 32 Pixel-Pipelines
- 10 Vertex-Shader
- 90nm low-k TSMC
- 450 Mhz Core Clock Speed
- 600 MHz Memory Clock Speed (1.2 Ghz since DDR)
- 512 MB GDDR-3
Radeon X900 Pro
- 24 Pixel-Pipelines
- 10 Vertex-Shader
- 90nm low-k TSMC
- 450 Mhz Core Clock Speed
- 600 MHz Memory Clock Speed (1.2 Ghz since DDR)
- 256/512 MB GDDR-3
Radeon X900
- 16 Pixel-Pipelines
- 8 Vertex-Shader
- 110nm low-k TSMC
- 500 Mhz Core Clock Speed
- 500 MHz Memory Clock Speed (1.0 Ghz since DDR)
- 256/512 MB GDDR-3
Yup, R580 aka X950XT as on the list, will debut Q1 2006 along the same time as the PS3, afaik.Quote:

My best guess would be the end of the year before you can go and buy one. I say this because Crossfire hasn't even gone out to review sites yet. Once review sites have it then you should be able to buy it in a few months, unless they have availability problems again. Then ATi has to whore out their Crossfire solution for a while. After that settles down a bit you will see the R520.
and for now let nVidia rule the market for 4 month or more ?
Actually, that was from a hardware site and is probably false considering 32 pipes wont come for a while now...Mainly because neither nv nor ATI (especially ati since crossfire isnt out yet  ) should see good yields and records broken with their 24 Pipe cards....so 32 Pipes just might be 6 months away at least.Quote:

As per your question...yes, the R520's will come out end of july. Only problem is, by then Nv will start mass producing 7800GTXs and you can already have them at your home within a week, something ATI wont be able to do as the R520 still has not come out of development yet :(
SO its most likely going to be a paper launch.

I wanted to buy X900XT in the end of July (thought it was the release date)
I guess I'll go for 7800GTX :\ I'm tired of waiting already (about 6 months  )
Do keep in mind...for everyone buying a 7800GTX right now. The R520 was delayed for one purpose and one purpose only....for it to be finalized at a higher spec than the G70 ... so the R520 WILL end up faster than the GTX...that's almost guaranteed...because the guys in Markham, Ont. are playing around with the clocks as we speak ;)Quote:

I guess the price for the XTPE will be around 700-900$ on the moment its out..
Are you talking about the delay to 26th July or the delay to the end of the year?Quote:

I wanted to build a system in August.... grrrr =P
That may be true to a certain extent. From what I've read different places they are having a tough time yielding working GPU's. Granted one of those places was theinquirer.net.Quote:

It's not hard to be pessimistic about ATI's ability to do more than a paper launch, though. Most of us are likely to believe any rumor that ATI is having a hard time with good yeilds. Did X800XT PE's ever become much more than vaporware?Quote:

Sooooo, I figure if I can manage to not buy a GTX for awhile, I'll just preorder an X900XT/XT PE as soon as I can. Maybe I'll get lucky again.
I really do think ATI is going to build the faster cards again.
:D X900XT PE is expected to be 2-3 times faster than X850XT PE (unconfirmed ATI source).
