Anybody got an educated guess as to what might be under the hood of these Mushkin? Timings are very similar to the Micron based Crucial products, so that is what I was thinking it was, but are there any guesses as to what else it might be? Will MFR run those timings?

If Micron based, then right now they are cheaper (at $100) than the similarly spec'ed Ballistix, which are $140.

MFR will indeed run those timings, but Mushkin might be using anything - Hynix, Micron or Samsung

Hope you realize that I'm just messing with you. I know that there is no way to tell for sure, short of pulling the spreaders, but since I don't know the ins and outs of these ICs used in assembling the 8GB modules I was hoping that timings & voltage might narrow it down, even if it were only by way of excluding some of the players.
A buddy of mine is looking to go to 16GB and he was asking me what I thought about them since they are on sale at the Egg and because I didn't really have a clue I thought that I'd try my luck here.
I don't think it's possible to be completely sure about ICs on any mems with low specs made by brands who don't have a clear IC identification system (like one of Corsair, G.Skill or Kingston).
Even if someone buys a kit, takes off the HS and reports Micron - there is no 100% guarantee that a kit bought the next day will have the same.

You mentioned in your other thread that these were most likely "X series or T series PSC"... Can you enlighten me as to the difference between the two and which ic clocks better?... I have a Muskin Ridgeback 2x2GB kit that has X series ic while I also have another earlier Mushkin Redline 2x2gb kit that I assume might be T series? because it does not seem to clock as well as the other.
I call "X series" or "T series" the stuff, code of which starts with letter X or T, e.g. XDT123A3G-A or TGS123A3G-A.
X series came out first and is the stuff to currently look for. T series came out later, it's good enough to replace X series on low bins such as 1600 7-8-7 or 1600 6-8-6 (so you should be careful) but absolutely useless for serious benching.
whats up with the hand marking on these ic's? this is a dec 2010 gskill blu ripjawsx 8-9-8-2133 kit.

My dec 2010 2133c8 had these as well, and all other ripjaw2133 cas8 as well I owned. Seems to be internal binning sign or marking for use. Most of the times all ics except one are also relabeled or have just small code at lower side of the ic

Sorry for the OT: Did OCZ use to clear markings on the side of Elpida ICs, or receive them without (when UTT, etc)? My kit of OCZ3P1600LVAM4GK wich is usually listed as BBSE hasn't the usual stripes on the ICs when seen bellow.
OCZ was one of the most unpredictable manufaturers I know - the BBSE I had from them all had white stripes though. But I had 2133 cas9 Blade and 1866 cas8 Reaper kits, marked at lists as having hyper, with bbse for example. On OCZ, you never know... and btw, I also had 2133cas9 Blade with hyper as well lol

Oh,not OCZ by all means,2 kits with greater specs like 2000 7-9-7 run like crap,i believe they had T series as speeds beyond 2400 were impossible for them...

Depends on specs - I had two Transcend kits rated 2000 9-11-9-24 with hynix BFR, but there is confirmed information at least for Axeram-series the 9-9-9 rated kits used PSC. Might be worth giving these a test
