Watercooled Lian li V600

Hello

I have been watercooling for about a year and a half...My first watercooling rig was a fully watercooled system in a Lian li G60 case...now that i am moving around alot i have desided to build a smaller system so that is more portable...

The new system will be a fully internal watercooled system parts are as follows.... :D

ASUS Rampage III Gene

Core I7 920 D0 (Overclocked 4 Ghz)

Corsair GT 1866mhz (Overclocked 2000 Mhz)

EVGA GTX 460 superclock (Later on SLI)

Intel 80gb SSD (OS)

Western digital Green 1000gb (Storage)

Silverstone 850w PSU

Watercooling parts.... :D

Full cover waterblock for GPU (EK Waterblock)

Cpu watercooled (Swiftech GT)

360 Rad (Noctua U12 Fans)

18w DDC

EK-Multioption RES X2 150mm

Red Tubing with clear coolent

Black Fittings

might later on cool the motherboard... :D

The case will have internal persex panels which will be white and also frosted with white light cold cathodes behind....more about that later....should be starting on the build tomorrow going to take the case apart and start with the cutting of the rad hole and also fan holes......

Subscribed to this! I might be looking to do a Gene III build as well. I didn't see any manufacturers making mobo waterblocks, do you know if any of the general ones will fit?

Well i have read on XS that the hole spacing of the chipset's and the mosfets are the same as the Gene II...so you can get the kit which MIPS makes for the Gene II and fit it....but when i get the board i will post some dimentions of the hole spacing which should help with getting hold of the right blocks.... :D

Well I got some parts today......:D

Also made some changes. I have changed the SSD to a INTEL X25-M 80gb
and also changed the 500gb to a 1TB 3.5 Western Digital 3.5 Green drive.

The reason for the changes was more space for the OS drive and also more Data storage (Found a place to mount the 3.5 Inch)

Lets have a look at some of the parts....:D

Well i have been doing some cutting, Door has been cut using a CNC Machine and then Rad Hole the old trust Dremel, I have also mounted the pump....

i have 4 magmas myself... just a tad too noisy, but awesome look and so easy to clean!!

The projects micro ATX interest me a lot. Sufficient power and smaller cases. Very nice configuration, I am happy of your worklog.

Today i did the PSU cut out on the rear door, think it can out very nice....:)

Well i have done quite alot of work in the last 2 weeks.

I first of all cut out the fan hole for the intake fans at the bottom of the case.

Had all the perspex cut out for the case which turned out great, think its going to look really good in the case.

Also painted all the parts inside the case that i wanted to be white, started to sleeve the PSU cables which are almost finished just have 6 pins left on the 24 pin then the sleeve will be finished.

The project is almost finished have about 20 % to do then i can start putting the final touches on the case, hoping to be finished with the case by next weekend, this is all down to how busy my week is.

I also included photos on how i sleeved my cables, I was going to use white tape around the cables and then sleeve over it but i didnt see myself sitting for hours doing that so i desided to use heat shrink, which turned out great used 3.2 mm which worked well to sleeve the PSU and some more it only cost me 15 pounds which is not bad for 30 meters of sleeving, there is also a photo that showes the differance between having a white backing and not having one.

I also used white poster paper to cover the holes in the front of the case which again was for looks and for a use, looks you will see in the photo and the use was to keep the dust out of the case, and again it came out great which is always a plus.

Well the project is finished now, worked all night to get it done and now its finished, the only thing is that the northbridge temps are really high and the moment ROG tweak is saying its at 75 C which is way to high for my liking.

I have tryed to overclock the system but it seams to be over heating, I had it at 4ghz and the NB went up to 100 c then the system just shutdown. :(

When looking at the photos i have posted you will see that there are 2 120mm fans placed at the bottom of the system these fans are drawing in air, they have filters fitted to reduce the amount of dust in the case (Yes i know this reduced the amount of SFM) there are 3 fans fitted to the rad these push air out of the case.

I was thinking maybe i should fit a MB waterblock, wanted to know if this would overload the rad, might be going SLI on the gpu which is at 31c idea and 40 load, the cpu at the moment with 1.3v underload is at 45c thats what ROG tweak is telling me (Which i think is correct) underload its about 55c.

I wanted to know from you the watercooling people if i had to add the MB waterblock would this overload the rad, and if not would another GTX460 push the rad over the edge.

I really like the slock heat sink looks good but looks like i might need to get rid of it. :(

Well Asus did have an issue wit the NB overheating on the CH IV formula. Basically the TIM used was not very good in quality and the amount of pressure from the heatsinks was not enough as well. Most of us have made the changes to the standoff to get better contact as well as changed the TIM on the NB and the thermal tape on the Vregs. I would suggest you actually take the board out and check the NB area, to make sure that there is good contact between the heatsink and the NB itself.

Have you considered trying a re-mount? It could be that it was a Friday afternoon job, and the TIM wasn't applied properly...

I have those same Enermax fans, do you know that you can easily take them apart and flip the "halo frame" 180 so the enermax text is up the right way :) :up:

For years I been using a V600 with a 360Rad stealth on top and I have been testing all kinds o configs.

I must say one of the bigger improvements that I got was when I mounted the top fans (rad) to take air INTO the case. It could help you with your temps on the NB.

In my case I have a xeon 3540 @ 4200 and the NB is around 63 on idle 75 on full. If you go for a SLI this temps will go up.

Maybe you should also try to re mount the NB heatsink, otherwise only a block could help you.
