Looks alright, except for the horrible SATA placement, WTF...
Still waiting to see Gigabyte's lineup, really want to see what their 890FX looks like.
Hmm... not exactly beautifull and again only 2 PCI-e 16X, wtf?
A big plus is the lack of heatpipes, this finally allows the use of chipset waterblocks again without having to change all the heatsinks at once.
Looking forward to how it does though.
Only two PCI3 x16 because its a G board with onboard video. Can't find it avalible around here. But then I'll be waiting on the FX board anyway.
sorry AMD boys, i fuuc*ked ed on poor AMD, there is no NDA signed... :D But i am waiting for Asus permission
when does the nda ends?
Well , Coolaler got preview pic too

I don't like the heatsink and the way-too-bright blue colour...
Other than that it looks pretty good, decent number of phases. Good PCI-E slot placement for CF as well.
And SATA placement, yeah, agreed... Well, at least there are two decently placed ports.
890GX northbridge is the same as the 785G (RS880), like 780G and 790GX.
The news here is the SB850 with native SATA 6Gbps.
Too bad it lacks USB 3.0 (Asus must be using a NEC controller).

That EPS connector is really tall, I like it :)
I have no major complaints about USB3.0 (native or not).
AMD northbridges have some PCIe 2.0 lanes to spare. And even if the NEC controller was connected to a PCIe 1.0 lane, it would still be much much faster than USB 2.0.
AMD made the right decision to prioritize native SATA 6Gbps (which is kinda pointless now, but we'll have 6Gbps SSDs very soon).
I just wish they had both...
As seen on coolaler.com:

I think the move to sata 6gbps was more than just a bigger #, i think AMD although i have not tested it yet moved to fix there raid performance which was lack luster on 790.
Still has USB 3 however, no clue if the chip supports native. whatever the case all the manufacturers are releasing boards with USB 3.0 native or not now.
Here's a cheap 790 board with USB3

I don't give a shoot with all the pictures in technicolor of these boards:D
Just test it how high the bus speed with non BE C3 will ya???:)
I would like to see pics from the Raid Rom Configuration....especially Write Cache Settings....
whats the gpu? 4200?
Well, for those wondering, an NDA is a Non Disclosure Agreement.
Does the 890 really have the HD4200 IGP still? No HD 5200? Gaaaay. Seriously though, why didn't they just release the 8xx chipsets with all new tech, GPU and all? Any optomisations to the NB that anyone heard of? I seriously doubt they left the NB untouched and just added SATAIII and USB3 when they can at the very least put the new GPU tech in there as well.
I think AMD is going to be at a dead end in the chipset department for a while now as there is nothing new on the upcoming horizon as thier CPU's have nothing new to take advantage of.
Anyone have an 890FX/X58 comparison chart handy? I would like to see the support directly compared to see whose got who by the balls here.
Wow...a NDA on a chipset. What's so damn important or secret that you can't post pictures or other things? Ridiculous.
Looks just like any of the other hundreds of motherboards out there.
