interesting conclusion: The most specific thing I can say to a potential buyer of a Clarkdale processor is this: it only makes sense to buy one if you are going to utilize the integrated graphics. If you plan on adding a discrete graphics card anyway, then it makes more sense to use that processor budget for a Lynnfield part.

Humm saw quite a few reviews but is there any one among these which use a Athlon II X4 620/630??
EDIT: anandtech one has the 630 and its the best review among these !!!!!!

These chips are absolutely fine for budget gaming with a single GTX 260
Ignore the onboard GPU, you wont miss it.
Screamers if you push them.
For that 7Ghz SS, they need to drop one core and raise to the now visible 28x multi.
A more realistic air OC to expect with 24/7 settings.
Thermaltake 120 single low noise fan.

interesting, the IGP is quite better, but overall still behind the 790GX,
the cpu is quite good, looks quite good for gaming even with only 2 cores, I would like to see a test of the cheaper one (G9650) how it overclocks, also to see how much of a benefit is HT in these dual cores in gaming (if it's something like in the i7s)

It might be a tad slower, but in regards to power consumption, it crushes the 790gx.

Wow, the performance improvement for Arrandale is awesome, will just have to wait till mid 2010 for those silicon tweaks to come and bump battery life... perfect timing as my faithful core duo LV is about reached its lifespan by summer :D

And it seems that Core i3 530 outperformed 630 in majority of cases. Thats really a goods news specially when knowing that both are supposed to have similar price

Yeah, pretty underwhelming. More lower performing parts for higher price from intel here. But hey, don't let that stop ya folks! lol I must say though, i'm a little surprised by the igp, performs better than I thought it would. It's the other part of the MCM that is the underperforming/overpriced part IMO.

1- Core i5 660 performs better than Athlon X4 630, you should put Core i3 530 instead of 660 for Performance
2- As far as I know, you need H55 or H57 to use the Integrated GPU. At the moment we don't know the prices of these motherboards.

Ya but still Intel Pentium G9650 seems like a good deal.
Intel Pentium G9650 + cheapo P55 "$87 + $85" - $172
Alternatively the i5 750 is a better choice instead of dual core i5's
i5 750 + P55 "$195 + $100" - $295
The only AMD alternative in performance is Athlon II 620 + 785 E51 Which would cost around $180. But getting a quad instead of a dual core i3 without HT would perform quite well.
But in games "discreet" the 620 would not be able to keep up at higher freq.

Yep the dual-stream decode and and Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD-MA is very useful, specially the Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD-MA. The only way AMD can get in the same boat is by using a ATi 5 series low end card.

Yeah, the higher frequency will def help in older games.
As far as these reviews go, it seems the majority of these so called journalists lack any sort of intergrity whatsoever. Now they premise their articles and base their conlcusions on core count. lol How bloody ridiculous is that. It's a great product because it tries to compete with only 2 cores. Well news flash, that's the way intel designed their architecture. The part that means absolutely anything is the price point they are targeting, and that puts them in the league of pretty high end quad cores, so no it's not cmpetitive in the least whether it's 1,2, 40, or 599 cores.
Do we compare graphics cards on the basis of cores? The 5870 blows donkey balls because it uses 1600 cores? I mean, why not just get intel to write the reviews for ya? I LOL

push intel to release an unlocked i3 XE cpu already and you will have 7.5ghz within a few weeks ;)

BCLK is not the issue for 7G with 660/670, just needs LHe

Where the unlocked multi might help is keeping the latency low (lower BCLK with higher 'QPI' multi). That being said, it is highly unlikely Intel will release an unlocked XE edition of these processors (we never got Wolfdale either).
Some kind of MCH~DRAM skew options might help depending on what the IMC logic allows. Again, down to Intel to release the info and make it possible (if it can be done).
