Project: ATCS 840 Black & White

Hi !

This is my new liquide cool project.

After spending much time on this forum looking at other peoples great work, i decided to do myself something cool !

Am one of those that like simple black and white colors :)

The parts that will go in this system will be (i did not buy them all yet, no points getting everything while work as to be done before, and i could save a fews $ in a fews weeks too :D)

Case: Coolsmaster ATCS 840 Black (the color was easy guess:yepp:)
MB: Asus Rampage II Extreme
CPU: i7 920
Memory: Corsair Dominator 12800. 2x3ghz
Video: GTX285 (brand not set in stone yet)
PSU: Corsair HX850
Disk 1: Intel X25-M 80go (or OCZ Vertex as Intel are not in stock at this time)
Disk 2: Samsung 7200.12 1to
DVD: my old black Samsung Lighscribe DVD burner

The cooling parts.

CPU: Apogée GTZ
Video: EK Acetal
NB/SB: EK acetal block
Mosfet: EK acetal
Pumps: DDC 3.2 x2
top: EK X white x2
Rez: EK 150 rev2 x2
Rad: Swiftech MCP 320 and 220

Tubing: Black and white but am not sure about size yet... i was thinking going 1/2ID 3/4OD, What do you think ?

Voila ! that is all for today, i will starts sleeving the case cable and i received my Corsair PSU, so i start on that too.

I used a Matt black paint for this. I wanted to get it powder coated, but it cost way to much (the price of the case) so 20€ later, job done :p

I got some white electrical tape during my lunch brake at the local DIY shop. I did not like the fact you could see the color of the cables with the white sleeve. I want them white !

More photos tonight while i worked on those sleeve :)

You mean 3/8ID tubing then ? what OD are those, 3/4 or 5/8 ?

I started the sleeving. As predicted you can still see the color of the cables behind.

Next up, i did the frontal case SATA cable. I cut the sleeve too short :down:. But one side of it will be hidden inside the case, so that wont be too much of a problem.

That all i did for now. Am having trouble removing the HD Audio, USB, Firewire and mobo connector cables :confused: Any tips on how to do them ?

They are a pain in the ass.

I was actually able to spread the sleeve wide enough to sneak it over those headers.

White electrical tape is a must :)

Very interested to see how this turns out. I am considering doing a water cooling system for my i7 build around the holidays when I have time off from classes.

Looks solid so far. I have a question about your paint job though, did you take apart the entire inner shell, or did u just remove the the inner part from the casing and paint it without taking the inner parts?

I have tried forcing the sleeve over the USB/firewire plug, but its a no go (its 1/8 sleeve).

White tape make this look a lot better... but just thinking about doing all those PSU cable + sleeving :eek:

For the painting, i dismantled the whole case before painting. I just didn't post all the painting stage ;)

Was it a pain in the ass taking it apart completely? I don't have a lot of tools here that can it easily, but my friend works a lot w/ cars and has a whole lot of tools and hes pretty sure hes got stuff that will be able to fully dismantle the case.

Its a shame that CM doesn't either just make the interior black, or offer a model besides the standard one with a black interior. Love the white sleeving too!

The only 2 tool you gonna need are a screwdriver (+ one) and a 5mm drill size to removed the rivets. You will of course need to buy news ones :p i got mine from MDCP-X they are black and perfect match !

I figured as much, I was going to get sleeving from there as well :)

I managed to remove the USB/firewire plug with simple staple trick ! it worked wonder. I still have 1 USB and Audio cable to do in order to finish the top panel wiring. Then i can put back the case together.

I need to order more sleeving (a lot more actually).... and putting white tape over those cable is a real pain is back side :shakes: but i really don't like the look of it without it !

I will have some photo later on today.

I love this case (didn't know it's delivered in so cute carton :D), and seems something serious is going on here, so i'm waiting for results ;)
