Hi Neb, you gonna get yourself one then? Im tempted just for the higher voltage out of the box options, and the hope that they'll overclock better then my NF7-S 2.0. The uGuru feature sounds OK too. Plus, a new toy is always nice...
i have emailed excaliberpc inquiring when they will get one instock. Im applying a credit from nf7-s and bios kit to this.

Of course, some of us use more than that... :D So vmods will still be used (not to mention VDD mods).
I hope this board has better power capabilities... My biggest frustration with the NF7-S is the inverse link between FSB and max vcore... :(
well i hope the power circuicity of the board can actually put out a stable 3.2v! what good are 3.2v if the only stable vdimm setting is 3v like with the nf7-s 2.0?
saaya - vdimm stability is related to PSU
if ur psu is §§§§ u wont get a stable vdimm... as for me, it's between 3.1 and 3.08 solid.. similar if ur 3.3V line is weak u wont get the full 3.2 vdimm
it actually depends on the voltage regulators the mobo has. increasing the 3.3v line rail just helps the crappier voltage regs keep stable afaik. thats why abit has upgraded voltage regulators on the mobo....so it can produce 3.2vdimmQuote:

ragnarok, my a7n8x deluxe rev 2.0 has extremely high quality caps and mosfets, the rails are extremely stable and better then on all other boards i ever had (8rda+ 1.1 and a couple of nf7-s 2.0 boards for example)
i bought a crappy 400W psu on ebay (just 15€) to power my tecs, and it has really bad rails, i tried it on the nf7-s 2.0 of a friend and on a P4 board of another friend and they got extremely low rails and they went up and down even in idle, but plugged in to my a7n8x deluxe i got much better results, the rails were still low and fluctuated, but not as much as on the other boards!
so you need both, a good psu and a good mainboard to get stable high vdimm. same thing with the cpu vcore, the nf7-s 2.0 has a higher vcore option than the 8rda+ , but the 8rda+ was stable up to 2.2v vcore while all my nf7-s 2.0 boards didnt work stable above 2v vcore with the same cpu and psu because they had lower quality caps or mosfets...

Hmmm, not sure yet Rich. I've got the NF7-s and the NF7 non-s vmodded. Also I've read the new bartons are locked. It all depends. I was leaning over to the dark side but the AN7 just made me look the other way ;)Quote:

i have a great experience seeing how they replaced 2 of my NF7-S.
hmmmmm looks nice. is it going to be the new big dog mb that replaces the NF7 series? im kinda confused on what they are doing? are they just improving on what was already a kick ass mb? sorry for the nOOby questions it just looks like a nice mb thats all....

Not sure perc, I'd like to find out myself. I'm wondering if it's gonna replace the NF7 also.
it probably will since all it is, is a nf7 with different audio codec, voltage regulators, bios settings, and that uGuru thingy.
i think the guy from abit said it will replace the nf7-s , didnt he?
I think the AN7 will kick major ass !:D
BTW, I just got a new NF7 Rev.2.0 and it has new mosfets and new caps in comparison to my older NF7 Rev.2.0. It has a metal socket leaver and A4 southbridge. I didn't have the time to test it yet, but tonight or tomorrow I'll tell you if you'll need the AN7 for increased stability due to new voltage regulation.;)

Neb you CANT go to the dark side, that would take all the fun out of it! Where's the fun in overclocking if you don't have to work for it! A good AMD overclock is the result of pain, sweat, blood, and a lot of love...:)
A good Intel overclock is the result of a fat wallet and good RAM., it's a soul-less experience.:(
Anyway, I reckon as long as the AN7 doesn't get released with a shed-load of bugs (I'm thinking uGuru here...) it should be a good replacement for the NF7-S 2.0. Time will tell...

Within a few minutes of my email I got a response and all my questions and concerns were answered.
For me is a welcome upgrade because I can finally use the full potential of my HyperX PC3500. The v1.2 does not allow me anything over 210MHz stable or 217MHZ max. Maybe for those with a v2.0 isn't a worthy upgrade.
I didn't upgrade to a v2.0 earlier because I was thinking A64 as my next upgrade but looking at the prices and results so far, I've decided to wait until next year.
If you rather not take the chance you can wait for my board to arrive on Tuesday and I'll let you know how it went.

Right when we get the order we will tell Abit right away, and they will ship it on the same business day or the next business day depending on what time the order is placed. In response to your question about where the motherboard is coming from, I do not know exactly what state, because this motherboard is a special order, but I can let you know as soon as possible on monday. If you do ground shipping the shipping time would be anywhere from 2-5 business days, depending on your location.

If these guys are reputable and the price is right, what the hell...
I may have a 2.0 already, but with the AN7 youre guaranteed the latest spin of silicon for the NF2 chipset. There are better audio codecs so that even if you use analog sound the board will sound better than the NF7-S. The IDE connectors are better placed. And uGuru takes care of audio and BIOS processes to free up the CPU for other things.
Its the dream board for those of us who wish to avoid the underperforming, underwhelming and buggy A64 boards.
