this thing was posted a couple days ago and ugly as sin I would take the TRUE over it in a second
yup posted... i want to see more stats though.
A TEC on my heat sink is sounding worth it now.
Anyone know when the V12 comes out? it looks way better than this one...
TRUE is not TEC cooler, so technically you can't compare V10 with TRUE
Of course we can compare. They are both aircoolers, and that is what matters. What you are saying, is just like saying you can't compare the TRUE with an old heatsink, because the TRUE has heatpipes, and the old one don't. Or saying that you can't compare TRUE with OCZ VENDETTA 2, because TRUE is not a HDT cooler like VENDETTA 2.Quote:

V10 is like an aircooler on steroids, and steroids aren't fair to people who don't use them to get an advantage

But no, it's not really fair to compare this to another air cooler. It's like comparing an air cooler to a water cooler - to use your logic, they do both ultimately use air to remove the heat from the system. What that misses out on though is the fact that the heat is removed from the source in a different way though - thanks to electricity rather than copper conduction (or water).
I'll agree that it's not really fair to compare the old-style coolers with heatpipe solutions, but it's so apparent that heatpipes have won (from day 1) that they are the new mainstream for air coolers. That has yet to be seen with TECs though, the added costs of construction and use make it seem much less likely.
Edit: That all being said, I agree that if you're going to compare it anywhere it'll have to be here due to the simplicity of the system if nothing else. If we had a forum about air-cooled TEC products that would obviously be best, but as that's unlikely to ever be the case...
LOL about people crying... I don't even know if it will beat the TRUE. Probably will, but we need to wait for reviews. Everytime a new thing comes, there are a lot of people that rejects and find a way to say negative things about it.
This is a good evolution, and we users, will be the ones enjoying it.
It is as if those TRUE users don't want anything better to come arround LOL, so they can still have the best solution. Now that is one bad egoistic way to think about things.
If the V12 uses the same fan that comes as stock on the V8 then not only will it offer great cooling it will also be the quietest component in your rig.
I think the V10 looks really special though and it looks like the TEC only kicks in at certain temperatures from the bumph on the back of the box. I also like how there is a fan positioned over the memory sticks as it will add a bit of extra cooling there (unless of course you have some of the thermalright heatsinks on your memory.)
I also don't think the V10 looks ugly at all I'd say it looks far nicer than a TRUE (cept maybe the CU one I think those look pretty sweet.) But at the end of the day a CPU cooler isn't about looking pretty, its about offering good cooling performance. And hopefully Coolermaster can build upon the already great V8 and offer some better CPU cooling solutions. Then if we are lucky they may turn their attentions towards GPU's.

Pretty slick. That TEC is going to dump a ton of heat into the case when it kicks in though, which likely happens most often at the same time the sytem's GPUs are also at max heat (gaming).
Also a pisser about not being able to access the ram without removing the cooler.
Will be fun to see tested, the temps might be worth the gripes.
Hey don't worry, maybe it will be possible to turn the TEC off, and then just see how the heatsink perform? Lets just hope it won't still beat the true like that, or some people here would starting crying again, since there won't be any arguments?Quote:

No. That is a 250W TEC, and even the best heatsink wouldn't handle that heat well. That TEC would perform poorly under aircooling. You need a good waterblock on that thingy. And even so, an overclocked quad at 1.45v can generate about 220W of heat, so that TEC wouldn't handle a quad very well. Even with a waterblock over it, it might be just better to just place the waterblock directly on your CPU and forget about the TEC. I am talking about full load temps... On idle, that TEC would bring your cpu to 10C or less. But under load, the heat would be too much, and it would perform bad, and your temps would reach about the same temps you would reach without the TEC.Quote:
