Possible to remove pci slots without breaking the board or desoldering every single connection?
Why are you painting it?
And I do not believe you can remove them without desoldering them but dont qoute me on that
Well I am going to do one of those white/black color schemes and I want to paint the pci slots all white.
I just had a revelation put dead card into slot
paint
???
profit
tape it up?
OOO ok so you are painting the PCI yeah I would just tape it all over and then I guess a dead card would work I dont know I have never heard of anyone doing this
that too.
All the pci slots including the pci-e's
and all the other slots for that matter.
Ide sata fan connectors atx power all of it.
I'd say: VERY BAD IDEA!
If you want a board with a certain color scheme, then buy one that matches that scheme as good as possible. But don't mess with parts that you don't have a clue about.
This is not meant as an offence, please don't misunderstand me. I'm only concerned about operating safety of the board. If you should accidently cover thermally sensitive parts in lacquer, or if you should get some lacquer inside the slot(s) (which most likely will happen with what you are planning to do), it would be highly possible that your motherboard will go up in flames later. Due to thermal overload, or perhaps due to a power contact that has increased resistance because of some of the paint being stuck there, or something like that. You can't foresee things like that. Especially if you don't really know what you are doing.
Just my :2cents: ,but think about it. Would that mod be worth the risk? Really think about it!
Do you seriously think that I would let that happen.
I would spend hours prepping everything. taping off everything perfectly.
I seriously doubt that if I accidentally cover a cap or resistor or something in a little paint its going to explode the next day.
After I paint the slots ill check for that meticulously cleaning off any paint that got where I didn't want it to go.
Just because I am a noobie to the forum doesn't mean I have a lack of skill or ability.
Also lots of pre testing and practice on other boards.
So, you are an EE or a CSE who can really check if everything is alright after doing the mod? I dare to highly doubt that. What you are doing is risky and absolutely pointless, although you might not want to see it.
A single flake of lacquer in the wrong place can ruin the slot, board or the gfx card.
Keep to painting cases or any oher passive parts, but stay away from painting anything active if you don't exactly know the possible consequences. If you don't want to hear the warning, do the mod. Perhaps it'll be alright. At least I hope so for you. But if anything goes wrong, don't come here to complain.
So, if you really think that you have all the needed skills, then stop asking and go ahead and do the mod already. Don't know what's keeping you.
Check out this, he painted his mobo, no update really though. :)
they make plastic covers for your all the slots on your motherboard including your rams slots.they come in all different colours...just pm me........never mind you already painted it...
Just dont use any paint from china, Lead is'nt good for a motherboards circuits!
I wouldn't do it at all... that's just asking for trouble.
Well seeing how that guy diddnt seem to have problems with his board and he painted the WHOLE THING
I think ill be able to get by just painting my slots.
I mean seriously guys.

Very gooood
very fing cool
I've been told you could do that.
O my Asus 790i ultra would be fing sick white!! My warranty is already fed sooooo hmmmmm.
Doesn't it ruin the heatsinks?
You should ask the guys who dreamed up the TRUE Black Edition  ...
I think it would be potential harmful as the paint would cover the ferrite cores on the inductors and mosfet heatsinks which get pretty damn hot... anyone like the smell of burning paint?
Thats pretty sweet!
nope all I want to do is paint the slots
just that
that pen mod idea just gave me some great inspiration for PermaFrost, thanks for posting it :)
