4-in-1 Motherboard Cooling :D
-
Damn this one is good :D :rocker:
P.S. Would the heatpipes work if the definitive NB cooling (DI or LN2) were used? :)
-
hmmm did i say I WANT one???!!!! :D
-
this is REALLY SCARY actually
shamino you are cracking me up man
they are listening to you too much i think :D
juuuuuuuuuuust kidding
honestly if this doesn't add too much to the cost it would be a great idea....pls just keep that in mind when doing these.
some of the watercooling guys may frown upon the W.C. idea if this is ALU based heatsink as they would probably all have copper in their loops. If you add copper the price is going to skyrocket so tough one :(
another interesting thing to ask is how does the NB react to LN2 being poured on it.....does it have a cold bug??....guess you can just put some ice pallets on there anyways :) heh
-
The moment I saw the top of the pic with the LN2 pot I thought..
"that NB heatsink box could be used as a....."
:D:D
Great idea!!!

That is a GREAT addon to the overclocking enthusiasts, very flexible and efficient solution and no wasted material, I like it. Nice design!
-
Nice idea :O
But Shamino, which board is that? Because it sure ain't a P35 MARS :D Is it a new upcoming X38/X48 high end board?
-
Damn you Sham, you just made my wet my pants !
-
Very interesting - though at sub zero temperatures those heatpipes are gonna be pretty redundant.

Google is your friend: Quantum Force X48 Preview (1 picture, but it looks like the real deal)
I think we're looking at a winner... that cooling solution is pure genious! Just needs a good BIOS, some DDR3-1800, a QX9770 and a big pot filled with LN. I'm certain it could set some unbelievable records.
Good work Sham and the people at Foxconn. Way to go!
-
That is the setup I'd WANT if I had excessive amount $$$. :D
I can foresee a huge popularity for this board among ppl who can afford such setup. Keep it coming Shamino, I hope they pay you good cuz I think Foxconn's enthusiast product sales will skyrocket since you joined them.

Great idea Sham!
What is the material of that 4in1 NB cooler?
-
Hmm, I might ditch my Maximus Formula for this one.
-
very nice! :toast:
i see you finally found a place to machine the prototype :D
-
That looks seriously industrial, a welcomed change from heatpipe city. :D
-
LardArse: Hmmm whats are inside the heatpipes on this cooler? are its same stuff like in the Big Typhoon LN2/DI will make them to not work(the gas will not move or something) . I´m almost toasted my Opty 146 becuse of it....used -20c air on the Big Typhoon and the temp on the core was going up fast to +90c->
Sry for may bad english.

the heatpipe is only used to move heat from the sb to the nb and from the nb to the mosfet heatsink
the southbridge doesnt produce that much heat, so it doesnt need the heatpipe to remove the heat i guess.
the nb will be cooled well enough so it doesnt need the heatpipe to the pmw mosfets.
and the pmw mosfets have their own heatsink and dont need the heatpipe :)
-
That is just awesome Shamino..!! :D

Yeah maybe thats right but you never know :) , and i dont know if the gas was making heat also when the pipes get colder, forgot to check that...or if its only stoped to work, But the best would be if the connection from nb - pwm/sb was not made of pipes with gas thats dont like cold....maybe cooler pwm, sb give some higher clocks.

Very nice idea, just wondering if weather it would be a bit tricky to insulate that thing when ln2/dice are used.

Love this Sham...just exelent :toast:

Thanks guys! This is an ES, some parts didn't come out as i wanted so need to change for next sample. As it is ES, I'm trying Aluminum with copper base first. The reason why the walls are not taller is due to the CPU HSF... though Saaya gave me a great idea to extend the walls seperately!
