Pic.
Seems like they got rid of the old 70's style condo that was cooling the chipset for a little more "traditionnal look" :D
this is too early.............
Not really Ken, only what 3 weeks away?

:soap: Only 2 PCIe 16x slots? I'll have to pass. Here's hoping Asus comes through for me so I can run Crossfire and my Areca card.
they finally got rid of the parallel port on the i/o connectors, and went with some e-sata's. this looks like the next mobo i will buy, in ddr2 flavor...
bump

After reading the tomshardware review on this motherboard, I wouldn't jump on it...at least not yet...you might just wind up spending a lot of $$$ for a motherboard that can't overclock better than any of $150 P35 mobos out now.
Hopefully BIOS updates will improve overclocking....Am I the only one that is reading on Intel's repeated (I believe 4 in one month) BIOS revisions given to board companies before launch of this chipset?...couple that with the respin Intel had to do and it makes me feel a bit underwhelmed about X38....maybe that's why the X48 is coming out just a month after this??
I agree. I wouldn't jump on x38 for a couple of reasons:
1 - Need DDR3 to utilize full potential.
2 - x48 is just around the corner and is supposed to be "the" overclocking chipset.
3 - P35 is doing just fine and dandy and the prices of P35 based mobo's should fall some more.
4 - pci-x 2.0 bandwidth will not be utilized for at least until a chipset or two come out.
5 - prices of these mobo's!!
here some first benchs from me
