IIRC last was 101.02, that's a huge jump to 158.16... is this legit for sure? not just version number changed?
oooh... new driver to mod.
thanks. :D
damn...
this drivers 32bit only.
yes, it supports the 8800 Ultra.
if you use one of my old driver modding guides, you can force this driver, to be used with your 8800 GTX and test the optimizations of the 8800 Ultra Driver.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ghlight=driver
same thing even for Nvidia drivers.
just manually direct the installation to the driver and ignore all "not compatible" errors and messages.
after reboot, all should be fine.
if its not, reboot in safe mode, and uninstall the driver.
like always... driver modding is done at your risk.
no one made you do it, so dont cry about it, if something goes wrong.
A g80-600 ? interesting...very interesting.
I'm waiting for r600 though.... to lower the price of the gts320 so i can get it lemow!
Fudzilla has tested the 158.16 with a 8600GTS - http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...d=550&Itemid=1 . Not bad results but it still needs some work.
EXACTLY what I am waiting for...Quote:

And what G80-200, G80-400, and G80-600 may be?
I confirm the big BOOST in 8800 series

Nvidia driver has it A new driver confirmed new G80 chips from Nvidia. Forceware 158.16 has at least four new G80 chips we haven't seen before. The first one is G80-400, then there is a G80-200 chip and finally G80-600 is listed and the mystical one Geforce 8800 Ultra.
Most important one is the new card ID // 0194 is called NVIDIA Geforce 8800 Ultra. This new driver should really boost the performance of all G8X parts but we will let you know how fast it goes. The new driver might bring a big performance increase as well, but stay tuned for the test.
Here are the new cards.
// 0190 - NVIDIA G80-400
// 0191 - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
// 0192 - NVIDIA G80-200
// 0193 - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
// 0194 - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra
// 0197 - NVIDIA G80-600

We already told you that the new 158.16 driver is more or less two per cent faster or slower in games and benchmarks, but we figured out that it is also 30 per cent faster in synthetic benchmarks.
We had a chance to test a Geforce 8800 GTX at its default 575 MHz with the old 97.92 drivers. We used Nvidia's beloved GPU DIP test.
In Cell shading the 97.92 does the job in 682,3311 msec and scores 403,3983 GFlop/sec. The same card, still clocked at 575 MHz for the core, but with the 158.16 drives now performs the same task in 584,9589 msec and scores 470,5480 GFlop/sec.
The third scenario included an overclocked G80 card clocked at 700 MHz, what can easily be the clock speed of G80 Ultra and the job was finished in 496,1952 msec and the card scored 554,7236 GFlop/sec.
So there is a hope for Geforce 8800 Ultra and GTX after all

As a general rule do you run aa and af in the driver settings or do you do it in the game menu? I never know what to do.
Where do you get the new drivers? I tried guru3d but no dice.
Guru3d hasn't posted them because these are under NDA... They're drivers sent to press for tommorrow's launch.
These will likely be officially launched within the next few days.
hmmm , not for Vista 32bit ? huh
Vista has the 158.14 IIRC, and it hasn't leaked yet.
Tommorrow, during the launch of the rest of the 8 series, these drivers should go official, for vista as well as xp.

That's one useful driver update.
:\
Yeah, seen this elsewhere, ill wait for the proper drivers me thinks, but it looks promising.........
Why the massive jump in numbers though?
I get the feeling it might have something to do with those missing muls....
:D I always love more performance for free.
