new ASUS P5B DLX WiFI Bios(1004) wacked my board, need assistance!

I was running on 0802 for a while with no problems with fsb@500. I loaded the 0910 bios the other day and it wouldnt hold my OC, so i reverted back to 0802 and everything was fine.

I have no idea why but I decided to try the new 1004 bios on the asus FTP. Same results as 0802, it wont even boot with a 400fsb overclock. I have no idea why. Now when I try to revert back to 0802. It wont let me . It keeps stating "current bios is a newer then the one your trying to flash"

I've tried AFUDOS(dos), EZ FLASH(bios) and ASUS UPDATE(windows)

they all give me the same message. I think this is written into the new 1004 that you cant revert back to an older bios.

guys I really need some help, I cant OC at all anymore. Anybody have any solutions ? Im really getting frustrated here. Maby 1 could modify the time stamp of the 0802 bios? if so? how? im desperate

did you check the downgrade option?

yea it gives me the same option but tells me to use AFUDOS if i want continue to flash to an older version. I tried both versions of AFUDOS , the one supplied on the cd and the one on the asus website

AFUDOS, same error msg
Asus seems to have implemented this on there new bios
I had no problem reverting from 0910

Hey Aldy402 I think you need to use an older version of AFUDOS to flash to an older bios, hope you get it fixed soon :)

I used usb stick and flashed from bios to older version.

yea i've tried that, I used the significantly older version on the driver cd and version 226 from the website

both no dice

UPDATE: I just looked on the asus website and it states

**Please update AsusUpdate to V7.09.02 or later prior making this update.**
**Do not use AsusUpdate to downgrade BIOS. For such need, please use EZFlash or AFUDOS instead**

for some reason, AFUDOS or EZflash wont let me revert even after ASUS sed it will. Im at work right now so I cant try again. Maby they updated the 1004 bios and reuploaded it? Im not sure but ill let try around 4. I have not however downloaded the new asusupdate

i was able to revert from any bios until the new 1004 bios
I even reverted to 0802 from the 0910 bios

its something new implemented in the new 1004

try reflashing 1004 again with everything loaded to defaults and clear cmos and start from scratch.

i remember that my DFI board had to be flashed a couple of times to get the new bios working.
nothing to lose anyway.

i finally got it back to 0802, had to download the oldest version possible of AFUDOS from 2002

Hey I flashed the new 1004 bios from 0804 and know my computer wont post. Tried resetting cmos a few times, nothing worked, any suggestions ?

How do you fit the boot files, afudos and the BIOS .ROM onto one floppy disk?

rest the cmos again with the power supply off and remove the cmos battery for 10 seconds , then try to flash back

you don't
make 1 boot up disk
and have a separate disk for afudos and the rom file
just swap after booting with the floppy

"It's called a dlck drive I think. But it's only for 3.5" floppy dlcks."

I haven't had much luck overclocking with the newer bioses either. It's 804 for me.

Has new BIOS 1004 helped anyone's OC or at least not hurt?

Ill proly flash to 1004 and try it with the E4300 Im experimenting with.

update:

Well flashed to 1004 and so far, have not been able to keep 400x8 Orthos stable with around the same voltages as with 0804.
If I try a few more things and cant get 1004 to be orthos @ 400x8, then I'm going back to 0910 or 0804 on this board as well.

Yah, my E4300 is not Orthos stable with 1004 with the same settings as 0804.

I have to go get another floppy to flash back to 0804, having same problem you did and Ive also never had problem reverting back to earlier bios.

I havent tried E4300 on 0910 so Ill proly check that and see if it is as stable as 0804 was.
